What type of a connector is this?
I found these cables coming from under the dashboard in a 997 from the passenger side footwell. The non-circled one looks to be a charger for a phone (old one) or a bluetooth kit or whatever - it came from the 12v socket in the passenger footwell.
It is the circled connector that I am interested in. What could it possibly be for? Like I said, its coming from the passenger side footwell (front-side wall) under the dash.

Drat! I was hoping this was some sort of a bluetooth device cable that was already hooked up to the PCM so I can play music through it. Seems like I'm out of luck

I opened the hood and checked if there were any remnants of a Dension or Nav-TV setup and found nothing. No DVD drive as well. So the car has PCM 2.1 without DVD, correct?
Can the in-dash CD player play MP3?

The in dash player can not play MP3s. I'm guessing that satellite receiver was probably used with an FM Modulator that plugged into the radio antenna connection.
I have the Dension unit in my 2005 997 Carrera and I like it alot. Navigation is a little tricky until you get used to it but everything works with my iPhone 5. I was pleasantly surprised to see that the google maps audio comes out of the speakers whenever a turn is announced as well even though I have not as of yet hooked up my bta1500 bluetooth module that I purchased for the Dension.

My 997 doesn't have the CD changer (Main + Trip check) which means I need to get it enabled by the dealer before I can even install a Dension - correct? Can't my indy shop enable the CD changer? I'd like to have the thing setup before winter sets in as I don't have a heated garage to work in.

Yes, You need the CD Enabled to use the Dension
I am not a big fan of the FM modulator setup. In my old '86 3.2, I preferred the cassette-3.5mm adapter to the FM transmitter as that was more reliable (sound quality is a different thing though). I just want a way to play songs from my iPod through the car speakers - doesn't necessarily have to be operable through PCM. Looks like Dension is the way to go (for lack of cheaper, reliable options)
