Great thread.
My '06 C2S is getting lazy starts when warm as well (on a relatively new battery), so I'm seeing this job in my near future.

Can someone please list the part # and where you sourced it?

Thanks very much!

Presently $99 at Suncoast.

It's a little more at Pelican but you'd have to compare shipping costs because Pelican may offer free shipping.

I replaced my starter/alternator cable last weekend. What a *****! Those clips that secure the cable to its feed tray are tricky. I found it better to just cut the old clips and work at removing them after the cable is yanked out. The new cable comes with its own clips. I would put this DIY at 9/10 for difficulty although now that I know what to expect maybe I could downgrade it to an 8/10.

Starter = $300
Cable - $125
Labor - $225

Total - $650...would have been $350 without a new starter.

No need to remove the starter when replacing the harness as it doesn't interfere with access to the harness in any way. Job is 3 hours tops for someone whose done it before with a lift to improve access to the harness from under the car.

You know what? The new cable didn't improve my slow hot starts. Doh!! I'm wondering if it's just a weak starter now. I'm going to double check my engine to chassis grounds this weekend. If I'm lucky it will be that. I really don't want to tear all that stuff off again to get to the starter. You know that feeling of doing all that hard work for nothing...yeah it's like that.

One theory on wiring fixes is to try running wiring external to the system just to test, "Is this wiring the solution", before one installs the wiring in the wall/car. So I wonder if one can run a parallel external heavy-guage wire solution to provide a run for the battery to the starter, or starter to chassis, to test if those wiring points solve it, and if they don't then its gotta be the battery or the starter, yes?

That's what I'm going to attempt to do with the ground wires although getting to the starter ground will be a challenge.

I checked all my grounds and I have good continuity everywhere with 0 ohms resistance between the starter/engine/chassis etc. I went ahead and cleaned all the leads on the starter with a wire brush anyway. I'm trying out some heat shield wrap around the starter to see if that helps a bit. I posted up a pic in the starter thread.
