can durametric even reset steering angle sensor?

now i am a bit skeptical on what durametric really can do for a buyer. for a cable that expensive, can it even reset the steering angle sensor? or for something like this durametric pro is needed. if it cant even be used to do this steering reset we enthusiast buyers were really duped into buying an overpriced reset tool.

thats what im saying. even a simple alignment cannot be completed even with a $700 cable. its really a very expensive reset tool. that is it. and i doubt if you can get anything out of customer service. quite sad because duremetric is very expensive

You should be happy that the group buy plan didn't get off the ground.

I see a lot of people bashing the Durametric Pro, and yes it is very poorly documented and supported, and it doesn't do everything. However, you can use it on unlimited VINs and it does do things that otherwise would require PIWIS or Autologic, but if you don't have a specific use for it, then buying it just to play with is likely to leave you disappointed.

As I understand it, there really is no other tool out there. My Indy uses one to service the modern Porsches. If you are an independent service company, you must own one or pay $1,000 (?) per month for the Porsche tool. (I think that is the price my Indy mentioned). Porsche has even moved their shop manuals to the cloud and charges a monthly fee to access them.

While coding is entertaining, the real value of the tool is to diagnose problems and for that, it is powerful (so they say). But keep in mind, the thing is a hack. It is reverse engineered, a hack, and not built using some sort of Siemens documentation of their architecture. There is no manual because, I am making a big assumption here, the builders don't understand it.

It is what it is.

Peace

Autologic is popular among indy shops, as it does a lot of high end vehicles, BMW, Mercedes, Land Rover, Rolls Royce, etc. So is pretty good for shops specializing in Euro vehicles.

Phil, I was unaware of this tool. Do you know what it costs? Their website in the UK wants you to contact a sales function in the USA.

Interesting that the Durametric gets all the attention from the Porsche guys. I wonder why? The Google doesn't turn up much at all for Autologic and 997.2.

Peace

Great Question...Looks to be over $4000.00 US!! I have a Durametric Pro and while it has some nice features I agree the documentation and support really sucks....even for a measley $700

Here is a link if you want to buy one and loan it to me LINK

Autologic is not cheap, and I think you have to buy an Autologic license for each brand, so Porsche is one license, BMW another license, etc. It is not for home use, but is a real alternative to PIWIS and other such systems for independent shops.

I guess when its the real ony option for the enthusiast, we have no choice bot to bite the bullet. I guess the reason i feel short changed with the item is its only use for me has been a reset tool. I actually feel the enthusiast version should at least be able to do maintenace/repair item features like, brake bleeding when a part is replaced-activate abs, steering angle reset after alignment among other things...
