Multifunction steering wheel Question

Is it possible to add a multifunction wheel to a car without one? I have seen them for sale and I have heard it is a programming issue not wiring.

mmm....I dont know....maybe the only problme is all the wires that goes from the steering to the dash board....
I have the multifunction and is very confortable....you dont need to move your hand of the steering!

take care!

Neil, you might want to spend some seat time with one before considering the change. I hardly use mine for anything other than volume. You can do a lot of things with it like change tracks, folders, navi stuff, phone stuff but it's not very intuitive and I just don't bother. It's a lot easier and simpler to use the PCM buttons. The only time it really comes in handy is when you have a lot of MP3s and you have the PCM in track mode and you can scroll one at a time without hitting enter or pushing anything. If you scroll to the track it will play automatically. Then again, you can do the same thing with the right hand wheel on the PCM unit.

Definitely try one before you get one.

Yeah Robert,
You are right. I was just wondering, you know how it is. I have seen them in catalogs and such, but I am pretty sure it is not a wiring issue.

From what I have heard .. If you have a tip; the cables should already be there .. otherwise your looking a complicated install. Either way, I went with the sport steering wheel (no multifunction) and I don't regret it.

I got the multifunction steering wheel because it looked like it might be trick, but I rarely use the functions. It's a small car and the buttons on the center console are within easy reach, so if I were to order a new car I wouldn't get it.
