Led fog conversion

Anyone done this? I am thinking that a simple bulb swap could really update to look of the fogs on 997tt's. There may be a need for some resistor or something, but that is in fact the question. I assume some of the guys here have given this thought already???

Yes, you can do it. You can buy the LED's with the correct circuit to prevent the bulb out warning. I have done this on mine, and think they look pretty good.

Nice! Got pics? Any chance you'd like to point me in the right direction for bulbs like the ones you mention? I get emails daily from ddm tuning about led sales and blowouts... Maybe they can be found there?

What are the stock bulbs?

I've done the same. It looks great. I actually got mine from a guy who gave great customer service. Easy install. I'll see if I can find the site.

Sure...Not the best photo but you get the idea. The bulb is H3, you get the LED and you need to reverse the polarity....they fit the same other than that.

Subscribed. I've seen several options on eBay. Seems they usually need resistors.

If you get the ones with the proper circuit built in, no resistors needed at all. If you buy the super cheap ones that DO NOT say no-can bus error, you will need reisitors. So when you search, I would suggest "H3 LED fog Canbus".

To match Porsche HID headlights(OEM's are about 5300K), you want between 5500K - 6000K temperature light. Lower than 5000K looks yellow, and higher than 6000K starts to look too blue.

What are you using for your side marker LED's? I've tried several from $8.99-$29.99, all have thrown codes. I did buy a set of side markers from Nello, but I wanted them to be "on" and white when not in blinker mode. They didn't throw codes but they did not function as I was hoping for.

Below are images of what I am currently running. All supplied from MaxSpeed Motorsports (Nello) other than the side markers.

Are you referring to the led front tune signal strips or the fog lights?

Hi there...

Not sure if there is something different with YOUR car, but the cheap ones in the link HERE will typically work fine. You need "Canbus - Error Free T-10 W5W" bulbs to correctly replace the oem side markers. I have used a host of these (like the ones in the link) with no issues.

On your second part. I assume you are using, or have used Durametric or PSTII or PIWIS to code the side markers to act as blinkers? When you do so, you can ONLY have one or the other....They are either on all the time (running lights), OR act as blinkers...But they will not do both.

Hope this helps.

I took him to mean installing the 997.2 fogs (in the same spot as 997.1 fogs).

If so, they do look good and are very bright. However, my understanding is they are not plug and play, and other modifications will need to be done to avoid errors and have them work properly. Also, to change them out, the entire bumper cover has to come off..whereas what you are talking about with just changing to LED's is pretty simple...just have to cross the two wires for correct polarity.

COST for EACH 997.2 (2011) fog lamp assembly is .. $425.23 + maybe a few other small parts. Part numbers - 997-631-077-03(L), 997-631-078-03(R)

Holy cow! $1000 mod. That's crazy. I never use them as the headlights have excellent lenses. The led mod sounds good for $60.
