Squeaky noises in my Vantage

Hey everyone,

I've owned my Vantage for exactly 5 years and use the car once or twice a week, the weather in Bahrain is always hot. With that being said, i've been hearing a squeak when i turn the steering wheel but i've been patient not to do anything about it. However, the past 2 or 3 weeks i've been hearing another noisy squeak from behind the passenger seat! Anyone experience these noises? I'm sure its from the rubber under the boot and the other noise is from the leather between the steering wheel! Any easy fixes? vaseline or something LOL.

I appreciate your input, thanks in advance!

You can adjust the rubbers under the boot lid so the boot fits snugly. They screw in or out depending on how you want the lid to fit!

N91K: I've started hearing that same squeak from the steering wheel! Do you feel pretty comfortable that its just the leather rubbing on yours? I am worried that it may be something more mechanical (eg, more expensive to fix). On my car it sounds like a scene from one of those old-time movies when they try to tune in an analog radio and they go back and forth across the band. Check out electronics018.wav file on the following website for an idea what it sounds like: http://www.grsites.com/archive/sound.../13/?offset=12

Mine sounds a bit less but almost the same, its when i turn it to a certain angle that i start hearing the noise, and yeah I'm positive its from the leather because another fellow Vantage owner has the same problem and asked the dealer and was told it is common.

I have the exact same issue at slow speeds: weird squeaks and noises.

I thought they were mechanical! But hey, if it's leather rubbing, I'm fine with that.

Did your dealer mention any fixes or solutions?

I am honestly relieved that I'm not the only one with this issue, but i never contacted the dealer to ask about solutions, i wanted to see what other Aston owners here would have to say first.

I tried vaseline as suggested by a friend to soften up the rubber on the boot, it worked on all areas but didn't work on the area with the loudest rubbing sound (behind passenger's seat). I haven't tried yet adjusting the rubber as ArtB suggested. Any other ideas that might help me?
