V8 Vantage: whistling noise when accelerating

My 4.3 vantage makes a strange noise when accelerating hard.

It happens when the car is warm and mostly happens in 2nd and 3rd gear. When hitting the throttle hard, around 5000 RPM's you can hear a whistling noise coming from the engine. I don't remember that the car did that in the beginning.

Anyone else have this problem?

Thanks!

Sound like a hooting owl?? Oil pressure relief valve. This is normal. Unless you want to spend the $2000+ to fix it.

I just went to Youtube to hear hooting owls

I can't describe the sound, it's like the combination of ringing and whistling if that makes any sense.

It happens when the car is hot and you drive fast. It does not happen when driving slow.

PS.: I have to say that I did something stupid last week: i was driving fast and shifted a couple of times at 7000, 7500 RPM's. In these high revs, the car made that same whining, whistling noise. So maybe, it's my fault?

I have recently had this in my DB9. The whistling noise is from the back of the car and also when it is super hot and my car as been driving in the sun and/or traffic jams for a while. It did it today and was a lot louder than when I first heard it last month. Today the noise was constant, but louder when accelerating. I keep a couple of bottles of water in the boot (trunk), and when I got home the bottles were so hot that I could not hold them for long!

Last month it only appeared when accelerating. Subsequent drives when the car was cooler revealed no noises.

Someone on a different thread said it was overheated fluid of some sort but what could it be with the noise from the back of the car?

I had a AMG E63 that did this only on hard throttle times. It was the Intake gasket that allowed under pressure air to enter it on a corner. So was only prevalent during a load on the engine. Replaced the intake gasket and was solved.

Sounds like AMs have other things it could be, but might consider this as one of the theories

Up at 7000 is where a 4.3 should be. We shouldn't be punished for where Aston put the powerband

The trunk gets hot? I've never tried riding in it.

The back box is right under the floor.

So driving for 30 minutes is long enough to cook dinner? I like mine medium rare.

Well yesterday when my car got hot I was driving in 33 degree (celcius) heat, the car was stationary for a lot of it and in slow moving city traffic for about 7 hours with an hour break for lunch where it was parked in the sun.

7 hours! At 20 mph that would get you 120 miles(hour break). That's some big city!
