But then I found out my actuator is bad, good news it is also used in BMW's, Jag's and Aston's, bad news is everywhere I looked the part is on back order.

For future reference search ' VDO 406.204/3/3' that is the part nbr VDO and BMW use and it is way cheaper than Jag and Aston.

Jag Part nbr - 2w93-f9c070-ab

how did you add a spring. Can you post pictures? My spring snapped off.

So the spring itself is not a serviceable item. And to purchase the entire hinge was about $460. Ended up purchasing a used fuel door complete with hinge. Drilling the rivet out. And re riveting it to my hinge. Worked like a charm.

I had that issue with the door sticking, but I ended up drilling it out like the AM Service Bulletin (attached) recommended. Then was able to center it properly. Never had an issue after.

mine too i was asked to show the spring to the dealer but i cant take it out, the rear section is blocking exit of 5 mm maybe, i am far from being able to take it out...don't know why. after removing the 3 screws. nothing to do, i tried folding it, same it doesn't come out.

this procedure may help me but to drill holes when its not out....or i could access it maybe from underneath? since i have sticken the carpet trunk there i don't know if i want take it out now ( or its the wheel inner arch then i see...sorry) and maybe replace the spring from underneath instead if its possible, and if i can't take the whole assembly out. its like 5 mm too thick to go through the car to exit...though its working now since i put some lithium grease.
