great work Ryan, you probably already know,as you are a obviously a true gearhead
like myself, if you can keep the original paint on the fender around the the door and fender line and carefully sand the clearcoat without going thru.try not to get any black paint on those edges when spraying..then after clearcoat when you install fender back on car it will match perfectly, also spray the fender the way you have it sitting in the last pic,(as if it was on the car) don't lay it flat,
i'm pretty sure you already know all this ,but just in case ...
all from 30yrs experience (some bad,lol )

Paint work complete
Painting was done on Friday and left over the weekend.
Reassembly done so now I booked an appointment to have the stone guard film replaced on both panels after the paint cures. I was going to have this done with the panels off but they were concerned about the paint lifting. I wanted the car back, so it will be done with panels on the car. My job is to not get any stone chips in the interim!
There is a lot of metallic in this paint but it matches well with the hood to my eyes.
I also buffed the driver's door and am happy with the result matching the rocker cover:

Thanks I'll take the compliment anyways ;)
The non-expert part of the job (I was very pissed off ) was the fender to hood molding / seal was painted! Sometimes you just have to do everything yourself
However both fenders are like this now and match when the hood is open or closed. I'll get over it as I didn't want to risk paint damage removing multiple panels just to replace the rubber seals. Removing the paint from the seal would have also risked further damage. If the paint doesn't crack the shop won't hear from me again on that issue.

Thanks, yes I'm back to enjoying it and need to slow down the the pace I'm spending money anyways
That said, window tinting is next and then polishing and waxing the paint (which I will do myself...).

3M Window Tinting
Had my appointment with Joedy at Niagara Tinting. I've been bringing him cars and even a boat to tint since I was in high school. He's the local expert and prices are still very reasonable. This time, I chose to go with a light "classy" tint level of 35% on all windows. Since he didn't have a template for a Vantage he started by pin-striping the outside of the rear hatch, cutting to fit and then using a heat gun to shrink film to fit the compound curve. Then it easily applied to the inside of the glass using water with a touch of baby shampoo in the mix. Next he works forward on the passenger side and lastly on the driver's side. While there are 7 windows in total, since the door panels didn't have to be removed the whole job was done in 2 hours. Joedy says he'll be disappointed if the next car I bring him isn't a Lamborghini...
Job was flawless and I really love how it looks on this colour combination.
Side benefit of leather protection and a little privacy on the highway (while sports cars jockey position to get a closer look at the Aston) doesn't hurt either.
