The sender in the wheel, does it have a battery in it? If so how long does that last typically? How is it replaced?
if not does it use kinetic energy generated while the wheel turns?
thanks for the response, so the entire valve thing needs to be replaced?
is it a costly thing?
Yes the valve thingy and it is like replacing a tire (the labor of doing that). With no center locks they will charge you $25 or so a wheel to replace not including the cost of the TPMS. Those prices are all over the board based on which one you need.
They are all auto learn. If you give me your yr, make and model I will send you a link to purchase OEM replacement. They are programmed before sent to you. You then take the new TPMS to a dealer or any tire place. They will break the bead of your tire/wheel, they take out the old TPMS and then they install the new ones. You get in your car and drive and the new TPMS will learn the location and tell you the tire pressure reading. It is that simple. Only issue with Porsche is if you have CL wheels. I would not take my GT3 to a tire place so my dealer would swap them out for me.
