disable nav screen?

I have a 2010 Rapide, and was wondering if anyone knows if you unplug the screen so it never raises, will it trigger an error light on the instrument panel? I asked my rep at the Aston dealer but he didnt seem to know.

The technology is from the stone age, and Id rather it didnt raise at all

Thanks.........

If you press and hold the Nav button and shut the Nav system off, the screen should close. Once closed, it should stay closed even after restarting the car. At least that is what it does on my 2012.

From what I gathered you should be able to unplug without issue. I’m hoping to replace the ski slope with a non-nav slope for my dbs and turn off the nav as I don’t like it either and the cutout bothers me

mine has the common issue of needing help to open. So it opens 1/2 inch and then stops, and I push it back closed. I ordered one of the gear replacement sets to change them, but then just thought maybe unplugging it alltogether is the better option.

I will try what you suggested though.

Thanks

im getting ready to pull my piano black ski slope and have it wrapped in carbon fiber wrap to hide the typical stress cracks at the corners of the nav opening. But thats a great idea about swapping to a non-nav ski slope. It never occurred to me.

Absolutely you can unplug and not play. No ill adverse effects and as mentioned 4 screws and its removed to fit a sleek 1pc panel. And if your handy one could brace the existing door from underneath and fill the gaps with Bondo to wrap in whatever skin your heart desires.

You can push and hold the navigation button so it stays down. However, it will open when you put car in reverse if you have a rear view camera. The the major side effect of disconnecting the screen is losing the rear view camera option if you have it.

I thought about going the route of replacing with non-nav waterfall panel but had problems sourcing them at a reasonable (non-dealer) price. I ended up just getting a brand new piano black one with nav cutout from astonmartinbits and will retain the nav screen if I ever decide to install a carplay integration kit and/or backup camera

My 12 Rapide nav screen doesn’t open when I put it in reverse. I always have to turn on the nav to see the back up camera

navigation, nav screen, location resolution, e.t.c is simply awful...i never use it v at all...

I have my front and rear cameras tied to video rear view mirror... so much better that trying to compromise using and upgrading the existing screen, orientation and resolution...
