2010 DBS or 2014 Vanquish

I currently have a 2010 DBS Volante auto with 10,500 miles on it. Quantum silver with black interior.

I’ve had a 2007 Vantage Roadster and a 2012 Virage Volante. Flipped the roadster and lost the Virage in a house fire (Sep 2020)

I got a good deal ($73k) on the DBS recently (BaT) and we’ve had it for a few weeks now. Christmas present to wife and she’s the primary driver. I have other toys that I drive.

She likes the DBS but misses the lighter cream truffle interior we had in the Virage. The DBS has CCBs and they squeak like the Virage did. Drives her nuts.

The DBS also needs the rear diffuser window glued as it’s starting to separate (common issue). It also has the insulation between the top and headliner deteriorating and flaking off when opening and closing the top. Virage had same issue.

With all that being said, I found a great deal ($115k) on a Black exterior and tan interior 2014 Vanquish Volante with 19k miles. They are offering me 10k over what I paid on the DBS as a trade value.

The wife prefers the Quantum Silver vs the Black but loves the lighter interior on the Vanquish.

The questions are:
1. Is the DBS rarer than the Vanquish?
2. Is the 15 8 speed a lot different than the 6 speed in the 14?
3. Is it worth the $35k difference (assume financing I’m ok with the cost)
4. Is there a way to fix squeaking breaks on the DBS and am I going to have the same issue on the Vanquish?

all right, I know I’m rambling right now but would appreciate feedback on the switch/purchase

thank you all.

I have a 14 Vanquish coupe and a 15 V12 Vantage Volante, with that said,

The questions are:
1. Is the DBS rarer than the Vanquish?
Not sure, but manual transmission for sure.

2. Is the 15 8 speed a lot different than the 6 speed in the 14?
I think with the 8 speed you can go 200 mph...other than that 6 speed works for me, Vantage has a 7 speed don't notice the difference.

3. Is it worth the $35k difference (assume financing I’m ok with the cost)
I think it is, Vanqish is the most beautiful car ever made IMHO

4. Is there a way to fix squeaking breaks on the DBS and am I going to have the same issue on the Vanquish?
Neither my Vanquish nor V12 Vantage CCB squeek.

Good luck

I recently purchased a 2015 Vanquish and also feel that it’s one of the most beautiful cars ever designed. I searched for a 2915 since I preferred the 8 speed’s quicker shifts and faster acceleration. The 2015+ Vanquishes also have Bosch engine management and a little stiffer suspension. These changes may not be important to you or your wife. I can verify that the brakes don’t squeak on my Vanquish. In case you haven’t seen it, here’s a relevant YouTube video:
Good luck with your decision

I’ve been debating the same. Have a 2010 dbs volante and similar issues with the top starting to have slight delamination from back window and the flakes falling from within the headliner when the top goes up and down.
however from a looks perspective while I really like the Vanquish I think I like the DBS better. They’re both great looking cars. Plus I’ve modified the DBS with the VAP power pack with the headers etc and it should be just as fast I’d image in or in same ballpark now as a Vanquish.
to my knowledge they both use the same brakes so hit or miss on the squeal. I changed my pads to the Pagid pads recently and much less noice. to get rid of it altogether there is a steel conversion option.
let us know what you decide and if you to Vanquish how you like it compared to the dbs.

Thank you all for the feedback. I bit the bullet and put a deposit on it today. Will finalize the paperwork on Monday 😎 Love the look of the DBS but the non squeaky breaks, not having to worry about the rear glass, backup can, Bluetooth, lighter interior, and a few others were the selling points for the misses

The positive flip, even with dealer trade in, was a positive for me. Plus the newer DB headlights, full carbon body, power increase, and new tech were my selling points.

What a stance

Love this interior

The quilting... mmmmm.....

Garage in the works with other toys. 97 F355, 21 M5 Comp, and Ducati 999R

I didn’t know there were any different pads other than OEM. Any more info on that?

Most beutiful car. Great color combo, love the chain mail stiching. When I bought my Vanquish, must have was chain mail stiching , one-77 steering wheel, carbon roof and of course umbrella.

Nice work

Gorgeous cars and garage.

this Vanquish doesn’t have the one-77 steering wheel but I was ok with it and like the leather matching wheel and center.

Does your Vanquish have squeaky brakes?

Squeaky brakes are not endemic of any particular car. You Vanquish could develop them just as much as you could've clear the DBS of squeaking brakes.

Regardless of the brakes, you made the choice I would have made. That Vanquish is something else (not that the DBS wasn't).

Very nice, love the Vanquish. For me, it's about the driving experience, so the manual transmission is really difficult to part with, but I think for your purposes you made the right choice. Plus, you get ventilated seats in the Vanquish, right? That's an indispensable feature for living in Tampa.

Haha. That’s exactly what my wife said. This is the 9th car purchase for the year.

I have a problem.

My Vanquish has squeaky brakes! They say the squeak goes away once the brakes are up to temperature but to be honest driving even in a sporty way on public roads will never heat them up enough!
Here is a photo....just because!

Ugh. I hate hearing that.

I was searching through old posts and threads earlier and saw your car. Stunning.

Did you ever modify the exhaust? I'm thinking the wife won't want to change it up. Does the sport button on the steering wheel open up the values? or do I need to order the CC remote

Thanks,

Thanks,
Pushing sport does open the valves I believe, but also allows a much higher RPM before the gears change. I got decat pipes from AML and am very pleased with them. I used to have a DB9.1 and I had a Quicksilver Supersport exhaust put in which made it loud all the time. The wife didn't like it at all! This time on the Vanquish, I was wary not to do the same. The decats allow me to generate noise almost to the Quicksilver level when I'm driving alone especially in Sport or using the paddles. When the wife is there and I am in auto and not in sport mode, it is the same volume as before the decats were installed. For me that is perfect.
