Window controls: Down is up and up is down

AM cars have quirks such as the handbrake, but is it just my 2015 V8 Vantage that has the window controls reversed from any logical direction? On my car you move the slider in (sort of in and up) to lower the window and pull it down to raise them. Is this a standard AM ‘you need to be in the club to know the secret handshake’, or did my switches get wired backwards at the factory?

I drive many (worse and cheaper) vehicles in a week and the AM is the only one that does this. Most cars just put the door lock where the window controls should be or hide the front controls way forward so your hand always falls on the rear controls when not paying attention.

Just curious.

Thanks

Philip

It’s a feature for the British climate. You have to think a little before opening your window in case your beautiful interior gets ruined by rain.

This drives me crazy. It’s not intuitive. I even thought about taking the window switch out and reversing the wires. Took me quite some time to get used to this. To this day, five years later my wife always pushes the switch the wrong way.

Do they still use the Volvo switches?

My Vantage and my wife's Volvo have the exact same window switches. Except with her Volvo you push down to lower the windows and pull up to raise them. It has always annoyed me because even after all these years I still first try and lower the driver's window in the Aston by first pushing down on the switch. Perhaps if we get rid of the Volvo it will solve my problem.

They might be the same externally, but I wonder if the internals are the same. It would be interesting to swap one switch from the Volvo to the Aston. If you then push down to lower the window, then I would buy two Volvo switches and change mine out.

Now that I think about it my next project might be to swap the wiring to the switches so that they work logically

The switch is correct, it's just mounted horizontal to fool the folks who don't know. If it was mounted vertical, you couldn't complain.

I have a Volvo too... never really noticed any issue using windows in either vehicle...
in all my cars I have trouble figuring out how to use the wipers...I guess that's for another thread!
