Anders S is infamous around these parts
Can't say what is causing the low compression, but I'm pretty sure that is one or two valves on the same cylinder that is making the noise. Either because of clearance issue or spring defect.

Rod knock usually happens every revolution, cam knock happens half of that. I'd put that frequency at < 400 knocks/min, which corresponds quite nicely to half of 750 rpm idle.

The lower compression would have me worried though.

There are a lot of comments regarding cost.
Just thought I'd mention there is also a time component.
A rebuild is usually 5 to 8 months.
Aston Martin doesn't publish a lot of specifications, and they do not provide a lot of parts, making any rebuild difficult.

You can likely part it out or put in a new crate engine... even if you 'fix' it you'll never get your money out of it... unless a factory rebuild/replacement it's not a car I'd ever buy, for any money...

I bought a porsche boxster that had an IMS failure but porsche stepped up to replace. I sold the car to another member on this forum with no worries because it was replaced and backed by porsche

Good luck

As others have said, if you purchase this car be prepared for and engine out rebuild.
?? Do you think. ??
