Naviks NK-200

Just got me a Naviks NK-200 with a Kenwood CMOS-230 camera for adding a backup camera on my 2010 Rapide.

Anybody installed a Naviks? How complicated is that?
I am mainly asking about feeding the 12V power supply to the unit to automatically turn on the camera when I put the car in Reverse. Where do I need to tie in?
Thanks for the help!

usera is infamous around these parts
Most of those just tie into the reverse light 12V wire.

Your Rapide did not have a back up camera as standard?

Unfortunately, it did not.
Maybe because it's a 2010?

I installed the NavTool which is very similar in a few hours, nothing too complicated. For the reverse camera, power it from one of the switched fuses in the trunk so it powers on with the car, then run one wire from the reverse light harness to the CarPlay module as a trigger. You will need to remove the DVD player if your car has it to gain access to the tail lamp plug.

The Kenwood camera is rather old and you still need to awkwardly wire the button into the cockpit somewhere to take advantage of the multiple view angles... most folks have installed this camera on the front of the vehicle.

i went a different route and bypassed the archaic nav system and screen and installed a rear view mirror with built in hi def video, with two camera inputs...

Good luck

Yes, I contemplated doing the same mod you did, but I didn't trust my upholstery skills.
Nice job though!

no upholstery needed. Rear view mirror mounts where OEM goes. Wire is run along headliner (coupe) or door sill (roadster) and back to rear DVD area. I use wireless remote switch to toggle views as needed.

Thanks for the video!
A little different than my Rapide, but always interesting to have a look and gain confidence.
Did you use the "special tool" 501-115 to remove the ski slope? Or you just pulled up with no prior tooling?
I just don't understand what would be the purpose of using this tool?

Finally complete the installation of the Naviks today.
All went well and I now have backup camera, which is really useful on these cars.
I tried the Iphone mirroring, and it's working too.
I didn't install it today as I didn't feel like removing the whole center console...
Somehow, my boot lights came back to life and are now turning on when I open the trunk

Next step is installing the front camera with a on/off relay, similar to this install: https://www.6speedonline.com/forums/...tallation.html

I had to drill a hole to get the camera wire from under the bumper to inside the car.
I removed the tail light since I wanted to clean the connector because my light is not functioning properly (that didn't help...) so I found a spot there...

The most challenging was splicing the "reverse" wire into the tail light harness as this is a really tight space:

All good now! I centered the camera between the 2 parking aides.
