S5 Opinions

Considering as a DD

Drove an auto S5 today & was impressed w/ handling but felt it was lacking power down low to mid. Any mods out there to wake it up?

Not a whole lot offered unless you want the ridiculously priced S/C kit. Intake, full exhaust and flash (if its available) is a good starting point.

The tiptronic doesn't help. You should try the S5 cab with the supercharged V6 and DSG transmission. The tranny is light years better than the tip with really quick shifts and you get a little more torque with the V6.

I had a 2008 S5 (delivered October 16, 2007) and drove it for 26K, until a friend borrowed and totaled it. Absolutely great car, and I've ordered the same exact car (2011 Phantom black/black 6 speed, but now with drive select and other small options not available in 2008)

I upgraded the exhaust on my 2008 which helped the mid range torque but unless you're looking to keep the sound subtle I would not change the exhaust too much. I replaced the downpipes with AWE and a Milltek cat back system and removed the resonators. It was quite loud, but sounded sinister. I plan on installing a capristo system on my 2011 when it arrives in August, so I can regulate the amount of sound coming from the exhaust.

As a daily drivers it's outstanding. large trunk, seating for 4 adults (I'm 6' and I've been in the back seat). I take it skiing, to the track, out to dinner, ... does everything well while being one of the best looking cars on the road. I can't wait for my replacement.

Also, I've heard there will be a titanium package available on 2011 models so it should look great, too.

Very nice car inside and out! Audi builds some of the best looking cars in the world.........but you might be a little disapointed at the S5's performance, especially given it's exorbitant price tag fully loaded. You're getting into M3, C63, ISF territory!

I used to DD my GT3....wnet to the dealer to buy a Q5 for my girlfriend and saw a S5.

Bought it on the spot. As far as power goes, it is a barge with an OK V8. It has enough to navigate traffic

Not sure it is a worthwhile track car

my dad has a 2010 S5 with a GIAC chip, AWE downpipes and catback exhaust, and Bilstein PSS10's. that thing is a beast. chip and exhaust really opened it up and it sounds amazing. the suspension also really helped it around corners.

My S5 is a great car. I have a couple of other cars so it is not my DD but I do drive it quite a bit anyway and if I didn't have any other car I would have it as a DD . Why would you need any more horsepower? a sub 5 second 0-60 is actually very fast if you start looking around. There isn't a ton of cars out there that actually do that. That said I'm about to trade my S5 for an R8 lol that is totally a different league though, if I could have both cars I wouldn't sell the S5.

No denying that the S5 is a great car, but in that price range there are so many other options that are faster, a lot faster!

I don't know of many cars in the S5 price range that are a lot faster, I have had some Vettes which are one of the few cars that is in this price range and a lot faster, I can't think of anything else. Most cars are $20K plus more that are faster. Now I don't think anybody buys a S5 because it is a fast car that is not what the S5 is all about. I talk about US pricing now, I know that the S5 is priced differently in other places M3,C63 and ISF is more money here in the US. A friend of mine had an ISF and it wasn't any faster then my S5 either for that matter.
