Key approach activity
Do these cars wake up when some one with a key comes close? I had reason to open the boot of mine today, and as I approached I could see a selection of lights on the Ben-HUR and (I think) the puddles.
I'll check another time without the key, but just curious.
Cheers

Just checked mine, and if I have the key in my pocket the lights on the mirror come on when I touch the door handle, nothing happens until then. My Ben Hur does not come on at all until I push the start button.
Interesting. Thanks very much.
Here's a *really* stupid question.
Start engine: Sit in car: Press brake: Press start button all the way, turns over and starts.
How do you turn it off so that everything goes off? I *assumed* press the start / stop to the first level but....
Just been out to check without the key and the Ben-HUR buttons are still lit: Wipers, front and rear de-mist, rear air-con.
I also have the security lights flashing about once per second. Need to check the manual, but that seems fast?

Just checked mine, and when I push the Start/Stop button, engine goes off, Ben Hur stays on, but the moment I open the car door, then the Ben Hur goes off. My security lights on the door flash fast for a second or two, then settle down to a short flash every second or so once the door is locked.
Mine is a 2005 model btw.

Thanks. I look more closely.
May just be that a couple of 'moving her around' runs have upset her. (The drive was being cleaned).
Pretty sure some of the buttons on the Ben-HUR (like the wipers) stay on all the time even when driving. Hmmmm.

I'm going to have to read the Ben-HUR manual more closely.
Found out that when I do as you suggested @Iain 1250 , that is engine off and open door, everything shuts down. Which is nice
Need to check the alarm lights as well, but I know I have a couple of electrical gremlins, and I want to find what the expected behaviour is before I go further.

Right, so after prodding today I have found the following:
The wiper service button is always illuminated.
The undocumented button below the A/C button is always illuminated and doesn't appear to do anything.
Any thoughts?
Cheers!

The button below the A/C one let the passenger choose their own temperature from what I can tell. If it is lit, then everything works off the drivers side temp settings. No idea why you wiper service on is always lit, maybe try putting the wipers into service mode and out. Sorry I can't be of much help.
An update on this issue. The car is with an Independent in the UK. They've been in touch with Vi-Products who have confirmed the unit is faulty.
At some point it will be removed and returned for repair / replacement.
