Took the ///M3 convertible to the dragstrip (Byron) yesterday
I took the vert to the dragstrip yesterday and was overall very happy. No landspeed records here but the details are as follows:
I have an '05 convertible with SMG and basically fully loaded.
All speakers are changed and new wire run to them. Two big *** amplifiers in lieu of the mobility kit and two 8 inch subs in a big *** box. Also my trunk was full with luggage, costumes, laptop, etc. I would guess easily + 150 lbs over stock.
Some runs included the gf, another 100 lbs or so...
No power mods at all.
my best 1/4 mi. time was 14.033 at 100.41 mph. 60' - 2.212. I think that if i took out my audio **** and the luggage i can easily do it in the 13's...
i did 3 runs with launch control and one w/o. the launch control works and is very consistent. the 60' with LC on were 2.234, 2.221 and 2.212. the one time w/o it was 2.456.
So like i said, i am very happy overall for what the car is.
This was also my first time so i am sure there are some things that can be done better.
for example, i am not sure what the best way to launch this car is. it seems that the LC using 1800 rpm is very slow. i tried stepping on the brake and gas at the same time but that didn't work too well. I love the SMG but it is definitely not the preferred transmission for dragging. any suggestions and/or comments are welcome.
p.s. the best magazine time for a convertible from a magazine i found was 13.61 with manual transmission and 18" rims (i have 19s)

doubtful
i think i might be done with manual transmissions for a while unless it is on a m-cycle.

run 1: 14.198 at 100.02
run 2: 14.125 at 100.05
run 3: 14.033 at 100.41
i listed the 60' in the fist post. the 1/8 mile was also very consistent. the 1000' were 11.882,11.963 and 11.789.
all of the above stats were obtained using LC control.
nice save in case she reads 6speed!
... but good looking car... i have a few friends with smg m3s who run high 13s on 19s bone stock, so with all that weight it all sounds about right...
