I have the Rouge Engineering El Diablo (muffler only) and have been very happy with it.

there are a number of different exhausts out there with different notes.
If you are looking for something mellow, then go for borla.. not very loud..
or even dinan, also not very loud
the rest of the exhausts really change the sound of the m3 and usually make them a lot louder
G/L

Personally if I would get an exhaust it would be from Supersprint.

Yet of course KreisSeig is my all time favorite, despite its astounding price tag.

my 2004 m3 had a full supersprint race...headers, race cats, x pipe, and race exhaust. best sounding, hands down, unless you get the kries seig.

Depends what you want, and how you want to go about it.

If you go with just a muffler section, then SuperSprint is by far my favorite. Nice and throaty, but not overly loud, especially inside the the car.

If you're going full system, than Magnaflow complete is the way to go. Full 304 stainless of course, with their x pipe and muffler section. Deep and throaty, without the hollow/tin sound of many other companies. Tips are double rolled, quality throughout, and fitment is excellent.

Not to mention the full setup can be had under $1000 shipped brand new from the right vendor.

These would be my only two choices for keeping a quality sound, without the obnoxious noise of most.
