i actually think LSM is pretty on target...the RS4 IS in fact a heavy pig wieghing it at about 3900 lbs, about the same weight as the larger M5...it understeers like crazy and is front heavy like pam anderson is top heavy and is barely faster than a stock e46 m3...those are facts...the brakes arent too shaby tho.

Fair points I agree, but as I wrote previously: Always been a BMW fan and felt they held their own compared to Audi The RS4 has changed that entirely and from what I've seen come out from audi 2006 and onwards, there's nothing to point to the contrary.

I was a dedicated M driver before, but I'm loyal to good cars, not necessarily a brand. This discussion would perhaps also prove more constructive if you'd actually driven the car your criticizing too.
i wasnt directing the at anyone, just in general...and since you mention it...i drove a brand new s4 yest and am waiting for my dealership to get an rs4 in so i cant test drive it...but since its basically the same car with 80 more hp and bigger brakes and slightly different body...im sure my end comments are going to be the same...i felt the s4 to be VERY uninspiring to say the least, clutch sucked, gearbox-throws tooo long, AWD I HATEEEE! steering wheel-POS thin along with cheap buttons on it...seats werent as supportive as m m3 and my m3 is way way way way way faster and more tq'y due due my 4.10 gears. understeer on the s4 sucked too, and i felt like i was sitting in an suv. after that im not sure i even want to look at the rs4, but i prob will so i can substaniate everything i think about it, or be proven wrong, but i think their AWD system is prob one of the worst IMPO...when i had my 911 C4 it drove like a RWD car with at most times only 5% to the front and it was awesome...the audi awd system sucks the life from the car.

I would not compare an S4 with an RS4, they are two very different cars. If they weren't, wouldn't it surprise you that every single automotive press in the world see the E92 M3 and RS4 as very similar competitors?

If the RS4 then still doesn't hold a candle to your E46, BMW must have done a terrible job with the E92..

RS4 has lighter fenders, wheels, engine pushed back, lighter engine, lighter rotors, lighter exhaust system.... It's weight distribution is 58/42 still but it's far less noticeable than the S4.

Wow, ignorance is bliss..
I've owned both, and a stock M3 is not even close.
You haven't even driven one of them.

What's the point of these kind of statements?

i personally dislike the looks of the e92 m3 compared to the e46...but as i discussed with gabriel last night, my car is a fully modded normally aspirated M3 just no cams or throttle bodies so its very hard to compare.

i know the rs4 and m3 are similar competitors.

honestly...i know the new M is gonna perform like a champ! its gonna handle amazingly, have all that you could want except the exterior design is a let down. but then again...the e46 m3 is one of the ebst designed cars ever made...up there with the 911s and 360 modenas so its a hard act to follow up. and winning 5 internation engine of the year awards to boot!

So what you're saying is basically that you love the handling of the new M3 (which you haven't driven), and you hate the handling of the new RS4 (which you haven't driven)?

How much have you spent on your E46 on performance modifications? It should be faster than the RS4 or as fast as 997S for that money... right?
