The boot from the shifter or the shifter from the shaft?

Shifter from the shaft. I was able to pull the boot down.

Simply pull up on the shifter. It is only attached with rubber that lines the inside of the shifter making VERY hard to pull, but it will pull. I have done this plenty of times on my 2008 Cayman S. Just don't get your nose in the way or it will get bloodied.

I'll keep trying then. Thanks!

DID IT! Thanks Wanderer!

Now I need to remove the "killer screw."

Someone suggested I removed the pocket first, but how?

When I have done it I leave the entire shifter **** together. It makes it easier to grab. The white you see in the picture is the rubber holding it on the shaft.

the killer screw is easy... as long as it is warm, the plastic bends out of the way and voila... out it comes... (I didn't reinstall the killer screw when I was finished)..

Not sure if you have seen them, but the instructions are on B&M's website for free as well. What SSK are you installing?

Check out the article section on the planet 9 site. You need to remove the side panels surrounding the center stack. This will give you access to remove the storage tray then remove the killer screw. It's a couple extra steps but makes the whole process much easier. I installed the AP shifter this weekend and it works great! I didn't use the linkage, though, because the set screw kept coming loose. The oem linkage works just fine. I had a hard time getting the leather shift boot back onto the shifter. Just takes patience. Good luck!

I installed the AP SSK with the linkage. Everything feels much more solid.

With a little patience, I was able to get access to the killer screw by simply pulling/bending the tray up, easier than I thought.

I also had a little problem putting the boot back together.

Now my problem is, I have the airbag light on, not the passenger one on the center console. I'm pretty sure I hooked everything back on underneath the console but now I'll have to open it up again and check. Any idea what it could be?
