Road trip
Some people had posted about the Cayenne's suitability as a good road trip vehicle. This weekend I drove out to Indianapolis for the MotoGP race. I left my house on Friday and hit a bunch of traffic. Took almost 10hrs to get there.
Spent the weekend partying with friends and shuttling people around (everyone wanted to ride in my GTS
), then headed home on Sunday evening after the races.
Driving late at night was much better and allowed me to make the trip in only 7.5hrs. I tried to keep the speed at only 10 over the limit most of the time, but I snuck up there a few times to dispense with traffic. Loved the gearing of the 6spd for no-downshift passing.
I have a narrow waist, wide back and big shoulders - a 'fit' physique, if you will - but I'm short @ only 5'9". The GTS seats were comfortable right up to about the 500 mile mark, then the bolsters were a bit confining, even on the bottom cushion. I could use a little more lumbar support, too.
Overall comfortable and I wouldn't hesitate to do it again. Here's the stats from the drive home. Drove at 75-85mph most of the trip.

12.4-12.6 is my usual mixed driving mileage. That 16.2 is all highway. I reset it when I pulled out of the hotel (< 1/8 mile from on ramp) and took the pic when I got home, which is 4 miles from the interstate.
I took my '09 CTTS from Boston to Bar Harbor last week - averaged 16 mpg (10 to 15 mph over limit) - love the seats no back issues - about a 5 hour drive with stops .. 2 adults, 3 kids and a full luggage area - sport mode entire way (except during extreme rain dumps).
you guys have got to get your cars in for a custom re-map.
im getting 25+ at constant 70mph with 503 bhp
2005 turbo tuned by paramount porsche specialists london.

I think your gearing is different than my manual tranny GTS. I'm running 3000rpm+ the entire time I'm on the interstate.
Pretty sure Porsche rates the GTS manual at 11/17 city/hwy, so my 16 is right in line with estimates.
And compare it with the US gallon vs the Imperial gallon?
Yeah, imperial is equal to 1.2 US gallons, so that has to account for a bit of the difference (about 19.5mp(i)g in his case), but not near 25. I've had positive mpg gains with mapping before, as long as you are not getting on it.
i didnt think about that.
its the same with a pint of beer, you lot have a US pint that is 16 fl/oz
but we have 20 fl/oz in ours (no wonder were always *****d)

I am in Dallas on my way to California from South Florida and so far have driven 1500 miles thru new Orleans and have averaged 13.3 mpg, doing between 50 and 90.
I find it isn't as much the speed that hurts my fuel consumption, but rather any kind of spirited use of the accelerator...
I am 5'10 and slim and find that the seats of my CTT fit me just right
The air suspension makes for a very pleasant ride, while still remaining firm
Awesome road trip car so far
