How do you remove the whole ashtray compartment?

I have a 2010 GTS and I have a coin stuck behind the whole ashtray compartment, not allowing me to close the ashtray altogether. I am not talking about the removing the tray in the ashtray but the whole unit itself. I see no clips around the outside perimeters and was wondering if anyonr here can help!

Thanks
Frank

Found some threads, but those are threads regarding pre touch screen pcm Cayennes. I took the trim off, and I found no spring clips.

Anyone try to remove the ashtrays on the newer Cayennes with the touchscreen pcm?

2003-2010 all are the same, CDR23, CDR30, PCM2.0, PCM 2.1, or PCM3.0, when it comes to removing the ashtray. The 2 screws are accessible once the air condition head is removed.

Thanks for the info.

When I take the horseshoe surround off, I see a metal clip where the plastic trim was held in and just inside that there is a metal clip.

Is that the metal flip you are talking about?

No I'm referring ot eh clips that hold the A/C control unit in the dash. They are hard to see(one on each side), and you need to have the car in drive with the e-brake set to remove it all the way.

sorry to bring up this old thread, but the same thing happened to me unfortunately,, managed to drop a quarter behind the tray and the sliding tray got stuck when I closed it, once I tried to open it, it won't open, had to tap the side to pop it out.

I wonder if I can park my Cayenne on uphill and tap the side to see whether the coin would slide out or not, no need to save a quarter but just want it to be outta the way... anyone got a picture of the tray structure?

Maybe this will help you to figure out where the clips are. Mine is from an '05 CTT so I'm not sure if yours would be different. Good luck!

I felt as if the ashtray was a waste of space, so I bought a second one off of ebay and made a custom pocket out of it. It's good for throwing my cell phone in, etc.

Cigarette Socket No Longer Pops-up....

I need to do this too. Anybody know how to re-assemble the ashtray insert? I have no idea how the spring(center) is oriented:

This is why all change goes in the center console. Reminds me i need to dump it cause every time i take a corner is sounds like a coin bank sloshing around.
