Is this normal?

I have noticed when braking or decelerating on motor that I can feel the car jerk a bit on downshifts when the speed gets low coming to a stop. It isn't very hard but can be noticed from drivers position and as a passenger. Is this normal or should I take it in to have it looked at?

Maybe its an 04 model problem, but I think you should check or change the oil in the motor or the car is in need of a basic service airfilters and so on. That should do the trick, Please notify the dealership that the car jerks when you slow down.

I have the same problem with my 2004CS and occurs on cold starts, I am no mechanic but I have the feeling it's something more serious then air filters and a oil change however who knows !

Hmm seems to be something pretty common. I took it out again and found that the jerk is from the revs dropping too low for the gear before it kicks down. Much like a manual car does if you leave it in a high gear and do not downshift/clutch when slowing down.

I'm thinking it is a software/computer setting that needs to be updated.

I had the coils changed a few months back because the car stuttered on acceleration in low gear when the rpms were mid to low range. (car remained in automatic). The coils did not change the problem when the car downshifts.

I made an appointment today to have mine checked out. I think I'm going to have my coils checked too because my idle seems to be low.

Anyone know if there is an actual TSB on this?

same problem here, has anybody find answer?

2004 Cayenne S and when cold, idling isn't very good and rpm-s are low

edit: Seems that it is Coil's problem

Not sure if this is the same but my wife's 08 Cayenne (v6)
When coming to a stop at a light or stop sign, the RPM will jump from 500 to about 1000RPM sometime a little higher, it will do this a few time and you can feel like it's trying to launch itself. Took it to the dealer and off course they say they can't duplicate the problem. Is this a normal thing? That's what they say but I don't think it's normal for an engine to "rev" itself like that.

canberk will become famous soon enough
Guys, how serious is that jerking problem, is it slightly jerking or obviously jerking.Because if you are talking about that slight little jerk, that's normal, it has a 4.5liters engine with 8 cylinders and it is downshifting to help breaking, what do you expect? Try putting the car in manual mode and when you are on 3rd gear, try breaking and stopping, it is much harder to stop on 3rd gear compared to downshifting...

04-06 have shifting issues. I go rid of my 04 CTT for this reason, felt like the tranie was about to blow up. Also at about 60k miles the coils had to be replaced. FYI the 08 CTT shifts as smooth as can be.

no issues with my '04, it's been smooth as silk. Of course I only have 17k and change on it... so we'll see.
