Was your auto stop on during the stall?

No definitely not. I tried it the first week I got the car but never liked the feel of it so I left it off since. Reading everyone's posts again it sounds like we were all doing turns at the time?

I'm so sorry to hear this issue. It sounds similar to an issue that had been widely affected BMW 3 series coupe. I guess it's the faulty fuel pump just like others mentioned in another thread.

My bro had a 2010 BMW 3 coupe with this issue, at the early stage the system would prompt 'Loss engine power' and the car would became crawling on highway. As the problem gets worse, it will cause engine to stall. In BMW case, it's a design flaw that will speed up the wear & tear of the fuel pump. Not very sure about Cayenne but I do hope this issue is just a faulty parts rather than design flaw.

Try to ask the service centre to check or preferably replace the fuel pump might solve the problem. Good luck

2011 Cayenne Stall

I have had this happen twice in the past 7 months. The engine would stall, lights come on, steering stiffens. Almost got creamed by a pick up truck as I rolled into oncoming traffic. Contacted the dealer who updated the CPU, but it happened again a few days ago (second time). I have been in contact with another user on this link who has had the same problem. Cant predict it and they couldnt replicate this the first time I had my car in. They will pick it up this week to try and figure it out. I am expecting a call from PNA today to alert them. You would think they would have checked my fuel pump the first time, as there have been several service bulletins about the fuel pump on new Cayennes.

Porsche north America continues to act ignorant. They want a serious law suit after someone dies or gets hurt before they act.

Topic is '12 Cayenne S do I'd assume that's what we are talking about here. I suspect it's a bug with the auto stop function. This is a new feature only in the panamera and 958 cayennes. Eventhough it hasnt happened to ours, it does worry me a lot that some actually experiences this with AutoStop disabled. It's a major safety issue.

I have a 2001 cayenne turbo, purchased 05/2011. I agree the AutoStop is probably to blame but porsche does not seem to care to find out.

I was about to place my order for a CTT this week but this thread really makes me think twice. I know how it felt as I'd driven a BMW that has similar problem. It's like driving with a ticking time bomb in your car.

You know, I hate to say this, but it seems like there are only a few Cayenne owners with this issue. Although I would hate to be the person with this issue, it sounds like it is only a few of the vehicles that has blown up into being every Cayenne has this issue.

Honestly, if it has happened a few times, why don't you just sell it? Yes, you'll lose some money, but if you don't feel comfortable with it and Porsche is doing nothing about it, what can you really do?

With that said, I'm sorry for you guys who are having this issue. I really am, but sounds like we are scaring other buyers out of the market for an issue that only a few have.

I would not recommend a cayenne until Porsche finds a fix. Yeah!! It's a ticking time bomb.

Since the one occurrence mine did the same thing, around the 3,000 mileage mark, nothing since..... And now 15,000 miles.
Knock on wood.
Maybe a system update might have corrected something without knowing..... Who knows.....
I was scared and baffled when it happened though last June......

Good luck and be safe all!!

Jace: So you had a system update done between 3000 and 15000 miles? Was it ECU flash of some sort?
