Does anyone know what level PITA it would be to replace my CDR-31 with the PCM 3.1

so i can have integrated nav, Ipod support and a back up camera ? You can buy the PCM on ebay for like $1600, does it require a lot of extra wires, harnesses, etc or is it basically plug and play after you add the camera and ipod auxilary outlet in the center console. Any help would be appreciated.

also they sell the PCM in the latest Tequipment catalog so it cant be that much of a nightmare to install or i dont think Porsche would offer it.

talked to the guy at Suncoast who says that its listed as a 8 hr installation job according to Porsche and i believe that is just the PCM and Nav attenna. I would think the Ipod auxillary outlet would be pretty easy since its so close by but the backup camera might be a different story and big $$$ to integrate. Sounds like you have to buy a OEM camera and and then an aftermarket harness from Nav-TV.com to make it work, probably going to run $1500 before installation so its looking like a $5000 + job between the PCM, attenna, camera, ipod port, harnesses and like 10+ hrs of dealer installation :-/. Wish the idiot that ordered my Cayenne had gotten the convienence package instead of a bunch of a la carte stuff.

I was just really interested in the NAV and IPOD integration. 8 hours does seem a little high. What do you think the cost would be including parts and labor? Thanks

I think its the same 8 hrs between the installation, wiring, reprogramming, etc. You can pick up a PCM on ebay for around $1700, the ipod port for another $350 and you'll probably need a nav antenna. Talk to someone at your dealership and see of their even willing to do it, the guys at mine make it sound like the ultimate PITA

Thanks for the info buddy. I think i'll leave it as is. I couldn't justify spending that kind of money for nav and a couple of more speakers when I placed my order last September.
