Stoptech Sport Trophy Big Brake Kit
Stoptech Sport Trophy Big Brake Kit
Have any of you guys used this brake kit before?
I was considering swapping out the PCCB rotors and Calipers on my 997.1 GT3 for the Stoptech Sport Trophy Big Brake Kit offered by GMG Racing.

It's the STR Brake package and Calipers that I'm referring to.
I would appreciate any feedback you may have regarding these.
thanks,
Dan

Absolutely do it! That is an awesome set up.
Check out European Car mag Sept. 2010, Vol. 42, No. 09 they have a great article addressing this same brake conversion.
Brembos are great but these have really become the ticket.
Of course this is about the STR's.
Go for it.

I have the STR kit on my car, they are a huge improvement over the stock setup (but I had regular C2S brakes, not PCCB). I really am happy with their stopping power. However, I am not totally satisfied with the pads I have on, they seem a little too soft for track. I really liked the Pagid Yellows on my stock brake setup. Those pads were hard and plenty grip. While the calipers have outstanding stopping power, I feel the pads are holding it back...
Hope this helps

Thanks for posting your experience here. Just for the record, what are the pads you are running that you are dissatisfied with?

We've been running this setup on 3-4 of our personal cars (Porsche / M3 / Mustang ) with great success. We've probably sold 10 sets to customers who have also reported nothing but great feedback on the Trophy Sport kits. Theres a ton of pad selection available for them, making it easy to match the right pad with your application.

Dan,
Long time, glad to see you still have your car. How is the back?
I know a number of people that have swapped there PCCB rotors and pads for Brembo (or Giro) 2 piece rotors with RS29's and keep the OEM calipers. Send PJS a PM if he doesn't chime in on this thread, I know he is happy with his set up.

Have you tried the Pagid RS14 Blacks for the rear to get a little more rear brake bias?

I second Pagid RS29's

Will you be at Sebring this weekend for the Chin event or the following weekend with PCA?
I'm not planning to attend Sebring events any time soon to be honest. It's really far and the fact that I need to drive the car there every time scares me. Just getting a nail in one tire will ruin the whole weekend for me. Plus I had enough drama at Sebring last time
I may attend to Sebring events maybe once every other month or so, but we'll see
We missed you at the Champion Event, where were you?I have Performance Friction
You're not getting old, we didn't get a chance to meet. I believe I saw you with your son that day though.I was trying to instruct my cousin on the track and not to throw up while he was driving
