Need Some Technical Advice

My 2007 GT3 at idle seems to be a little uneven with the tach bouncing a bit. Seems like a bit of a misfire, but nothing major. No issues at speed, but just a little uneven at idle. Is this normal on the GT3? My C4S that I sold was silky smooth at any speed. Just wondering if I should get this checked out, or I am just a nervous noob.

As always, thanks for all of the help from the 6speed community.

My GT3 is also 2007 and does that too. It's even worse when it's cold.

Could be the nervous nature of these engines. They like to be a lot higher in the RPM band! I think I might be worrying too much. These cars are rock-solid.

Thanks for the help.

I know everything is ok with my GT3 because it just came back from my dealer. They did the 111 points check and extended warranty for 2 more years. So i'm pretty sure the nervous idle is normal.

I have 9,300 miles on the car in total, so pretty low miles on the coil packs and plugs. However, the manual recommends that the plugs get changed out after four years which has not been done. Not sure if age is going to affect them as much as miles driven, but I could be wrong.

Thanks for the feedback.

The idle is always a little rougher than on other P-cars. The cams etc.. but if it's hunting around a lot then there's a possibility that a vacuum leak has developed?

I would say it is not hunting around a lot. It is bouncing about 100 RPM at idle - just enough to make the needle bounce a bit.

Thanks for the help!

Yup, +/- 100 rpm at idle is just about what mine does. It's enough that you can feel it. Every other Porsche I've driven has a much smoother idle, but they don't rev like the GT3 either.

Agreed. These cars are fun to take up through the rev band! I am really having fun with this one vs. the C4S, but I already need a new front lip - too many scrapes alreay on low spots. This takes some getting used to.
