PCCB Question
PCCB Question
I have a buddy with a 2011 GT3 RS. Has PCCB's. He has tracked the car a total of about 6-8 days, and the car has 2300 miles. Still running stock tires. The interior portion of his rotors are burned and not good, and the dealer told him he can't track in that condition again and needs to replace the rotors. Porsche claims that the rotor is an expendable with no warranty. Come on! I've had, and have them, but they last a ton longer. What would be the damn point in buying them if they won't last 6 days on a track? Why pay $9k? I'm calling BS, but my buddy doesn't know what to do.
Anyone heard of this or have suggestions?

Every dealer I have spoken to says the same. In addition, I know many who have PCCBs on track and experience the same issue. It really is BS, but Porsche will not replace PCCB rotors due to excessive wear whether that is 8 track days or 1. Most individuals who track their cars regularly do not opt for PCCB due to sky high replacement costs. Many buy the cars and switch out the PCCB to steel immediately.
...wow, stock tires after 6-8 track days - that's good. I have 3700 miles on my GT3 and am changing to my 3rd set of tires tomorrow! Those sport cups are great, but don't last long imo...hopefully my new Super Sports will perform well, but last a lot longer...

It's the driver. He's way better and they are toast now. He came from a turbo so he didn't understand about track cars.
I had pccb's on my 08 GT2 and I tracked it a bunch. Never had issues.
After hearing this, it's total BS to have them on the car for any reason.

However, if you have a daily driver that you never track, the PCCBs will last >100,000 miles without needing to be changed and very little brake dust. That being said, I still won't buy them or pay extra for them.
Go over to Rennlist on the Racing and Drivers Ed forum. PCCB's stink for track use and they will tear up quickly. The PCCB rotors are $18k...yes $18,000 to replace but I've seen them for $16,000. Screw that I'll never ever run PCCB as they can't handle realy high performance driving. Again it's all been documents on the other forum for the last few years.
Pay to play with pccbs
They came on my RS and I swapped them with brembo type IIIs immediately
I would advise your friend not to waste time and energy fighting with Porsche about it...
Just replace them with iron and move on...

I agree on replacement. That's a hard pill to swallow for him. For anyone.
