Per Lee Tran at P of San Antonio, they have allocations for two 4.0s that are not taken yet.
Too rich for my taste, still want a 991 PTS instead, but for those looking might give him a call at 415 425, 9100.

I appreciate the pointer. I would gladly take the black one at MSRP. Unfortunately they are asking 249. I don't understand this instinct to make all the profit on day one instead of making a life long customer.
Chowder Heads
Actually, guys, apologize. I did not realize they were asking that. Just spoke with the rep and manager there and explained to them what chowder heads they are.....kinda like advertising the Mex BLue car for 144 and then offering it to me at 130...wth?? Be straight, be honest and build long time customers IMO.....
Mission impossible to find such dealers...

$249k ? That's nothing...
There's one on the PCA site now for $285k, and I had a PM for one at $350k !
Anyone who has been around Porsche's for more than 5 minutes knows they can find 4.0's at MSRP now, slightly under next year and well below MSRP in 2 yrs when the 991 GT3 hits...thats just how it is.
BIll

I was offered a $5,000 discount on my first 911, a new 2003 C4S at the local Sacramento dealer. The discount was withdrawn when I met with the sales manager to give him a deposit. The C4S, a 2004 GT3, two new Cayennes, a 2007 Carrera and my 2008 GT3RS all purchased at another dealer, he made a stupid decision for $5,000.

if one wants to pay a premium on those cars, there are A LOT available.
if you want msrp, much harder to find.
smart dealer develop relationship and sells many cars
morons ream you once or twice, then they lose you.
dealers are usually not all that smart.

Well said, dealers selling at msrp are hard to find. The frustrating thing is that the dealers that sell at msrp don't get the allocation from PCNA that some of the gougers do. Why does the dealer in San Antonio have 2 when my dealer in Vegas got 1 and could not get anymore? A lot of BS if you ask me!!
Dealers in the Bay Area have been asking as much as $15K-$20K over MSRP for a BMW 1M! Friend of mine can't find one anywhere for MSRP. I'd be curious as to what they're getting for 4.0s. A lot of silly money here.
I bought my 996 over the phone and called 3 dealers telling them I'd make a decision that day, wouldn't play dealers off each other to save a few dimes, and just asked for their one-shot best price. One dealer told me they would take $1K off MSRP max - no way they would do anything better. I got a better offer elsewhere and bought. The first dealer called me back later and said they suddenly had room to move and would price match. Too late. Of course when I showed up at the place I bought the car in an old Nissan Maxima wearing an old T-shirt and jeans, I walked around the showroom for over 30 minutes and every single person there ignored me. When someone finally asked what I was doing there and I told them I was picking up the car I bought suddenly everyone was super nice. That's why I hate buying cars from most dealers.
