Long Highway vacation/trip recommendations needed.....

To preface this, I had a problem with an SL a few years ago where I cracked a wheel on a New Brunswick hwy and had to take a flight and have the car towed back to Toronto........so wife is a tad concerned...

That being said.

I have 997.1 GT3. I have OZ wheels that are quite strong, and in 19", so the cracking should be more avoidable that the Carlsson's I had on the Merc.

My wife and I are planning a driving trip from Toronto area to Charleston, SC. How GT3 friendly are the roads, generally speaking? Easy to park (without tearing off front cup spoiler)? I get around Ontario carefully and easily, so just wondering what the conditions would be like that I may have to face.
Else will just take the RRover and be done with it.......but obviously the fun factor won't be there.

Any other issues I should be concerned with? I know this is a somewhat strange post, but any insight, recommendations, and comments (constructive of course) would be appreciated.

I am not familiar with the roads that you would travel on, but if they are interstate highways, then you should be just fine. That's a long trip in a GT3, however. My concern is space to store luggage, momentos picked up along the way and convenience. What happens if you pop a tire? No spare = headache, and lord knows where you would be along the way if that happened. Smaller towns don't just have our tires laying around in stock if it comes to that. I would definitely have AAA if I did this trip in my car. I hate to be Debbie Downer on this, but those would be main concerns.

My $0.02 FWIW.

Here's our cross-country trip but really there's not much to worry about.

I live in Charleston and and I urge you to take the P car. I have made the trip from Charleston to Hanover NH numerous times in both my 996 and 997.2 cars. Never had a mechanical or wheel/tire problem. Good interstates and some even better secondary roads. AAA card in my wallet frees my mind of worry about not having a spare. Have a great trip!!!

I've driven to NC from Ontario, as well as Arizona and the roads are great. Ontario will be where you run into the worst roads IMO.

I'm going to go to Texas in July on a road trip - I think it's a great idea to take the p car. I'm taking mine.

Just completed an 1300 mile Arizona-So Cal journey in my .1 RS and while I did manage to scrape the lip on every single road surface in both states the car was as nice as any I've driven and a whole lot more fun than any SUV! I also had a passenger and luggage for a 7 day stay so no worries on cargo space either. Enjoy your trip!

Considering it was a few hundred kms of construction and chewed up roads it wasn't a surprise that Ontario was the worst.
