hi guys, I upgraded from a stock mk1 stock comfort seat to the mk2 light weight fix back bucket seat(Porsche oem ones) I did the whole process diy, I did updo the battery, and there is only one plug on the seat and I did plug it back, and then reconnect the battery. But the airbag is on, and when I start from 1 it doesn’t release handbrake automatically.
I went to a shop and ask them to reset it, and it is still on.
The airbag light is a known issue when switching from stock mk 1 seats to either LWB or aftermarket (Recaro or OMP) race seats. Unfortunately there is no known solution or fix at this time. The issue is due to the different coding for the airbag in the mk 1 GT3. Technicians have tried everything (incl PIWIS tool coding) to try and disable the airbag warning light but, as far as I know there is no solution. The only "hack" has been to either remove the bulb (not recommended) or use black tape over the light (not cosmetically appealing).
Sorry but I'm in the same boat, I haven't installed race seats in my 991.1 GT3 for this reason, I know I couldn't deal with the constant on airbag light.
The fix happens at a dealer with competent techs who understand how to use the PWIS tool. You might find some qualified independent dealer techs as well, because seat swapping is not uncommon.
