Exclamation XP: SoCal Warning

This was posted by Eyal...

Well gentlemen, It seems as though we have upset the local sheriff department.

Today, in my brothers Subaru, we were behind a GT3 of this board, whom I won't mention names since these boards are most likely being monitored by the sheriffs. We were descending down Stunt Rd. at spirited, but not ridiculous speed, and passed two sheriffs on motorcycles. (new kawasaki's with LED red and blue bars for for lights. These bikes are NOT easily identifiable, so watch out) They quickly turned around, and pulled us (my brother, the driver, and I) over. The officer was quite nice, and let us off with "... this is what happens when you try to follow a Porsche. (we told him the turn came up on us and scared us... slow down and be careful, what your doing is very dangerous."

Well, about 2 hours later, my brother received a phone call from a sheriff (who gave two different names at the beginning and end of the conversation ) He explained, no no, he was yelling, that he is dying to make an example of someone on these roads (aka castration) and that he knows all about what we do. He then proceeded to explain that he was now watching him, and that he is now on the street racer list, and can now be arrested for breathing wrong. He then asked if there was a Porsche at the residence, and asked my brother if it was mine. He told him to tell me hes watching me too. then he said he knows all about the groups up there. the Subarus, the corvettes and the GT2 and GT3's (yes, he said gt2 and gt3) HE said that those GT2's and 3's fly through the canyons at ridiculous speeds, and he is DETERMINED to crack down on them. He asked for a description of the car and owner in front of us and if we were racing in a group. My brother said that he didn't know the driver was. and that it was a Yellow Porsche. He then tried to probe a lot more for that information. Finally he said, we know all about Mr. yellow GT3, tell him were onto him too! (we never disclosed what kind of porsche it was) The sheriff yelled on, that supposedly he has photos of Stunt, Piuma, and Tuna, and that this is way to dangerous. He's sick of the accidents etc. He kept on yelling that he will be cracking down very hard now. Sooo, you guys that like theses roads, time to stay away for a couple months. This is a pre warning to you all!

Roland,

Funny that Eyal would make that post, eh, after flying thru the air - helping to cause the cop increase? I think that SY went bad nearby and we have new speed limit signs and massive cop coverage ever since- like todd says the track is safer than the street at least when he's around.

MJ-

where did you hear this?

i don't know what you are talking about. i drive through there for the scenery. it's very beautiful with the ocean view. i drive very civily with my viper and wrx friends. i have never ever seen any of the gt2 or 3 racing through those windy canyons. that is what race tracks are for.

ouch

I was out ther this weekend (3 z06's), saw a yellow GT3 a few times....and I saw the 2 moto cops on two occassions.. and I saw the wrecked yellow GT3 that weekend as well...

anyway, every summer they start a huge crack down to reduce the number of accidents out there, and they try to make examples to get this kind of publicity.

MJ,

I sent EJ/Dirt Track Racer a blessing of peace last night.

This pout is over! let's party Porsche!!!!

[end of Pony Express. this pyrometer [is that the right word?] gave faulty readings after the Gambler 100 -- i had a squirrily episode at 165 mph in a wind gust while on a raised section of road with 30 foot fall-offs -- scary - and thought i had a tyre puncture and slowed down to 135. the tire temp taken like this showed left rear very hot the first take, which freaked me out. the second take showed normal as did tyre pressure. it was still good to slow down, altho' it cost me my 2nd run]
