Driving advice
Suggest you do the same.
You don't *need* to double-clutch any more than you *need* to heel/toe.
However, discarding it as something anachronistic like the previous poster did though is extremely ignorant.
There is a REASON that Skip Barber, one of the most well-respected racing schools, teaches double-clutch techniques. Oh, and they're not teaching it for 60s muscle cars either.

I think you and Condor are getting off on the wrong foot. I believe you guys are talking about 2 different types of gear boxes. I also race a 997 GT3 cup and our gear boxes are highly sensitive along with the Clutch. The Porsche Motorsports clutch is the weak spot of the car. 1st thru 6th you never use clutch and shift. 6th to 2nd if you don't heel/toe as you state above you might as well not start the race. You will lose 1/2 second per corner in a 10-20 turn road course. There is not enough time to double clutch when downshifting into a 60-90 mph turn. The braking in these cars is insane and you can't downshift like a F1 with your fingers into the corner. Plus if you double clutch a 997 Cups clutch you will burn 3k every second race, They just won't withstand the abuse. I will not pretend to know anything about what Skip B is teaching or driving because I don't know. I do know there could be many different sequentials out there. Condor's is hiper sensitive for weight and He is completely correct in what to do in that car.
You're right of course. I should have said *some* race cars don't have synchromesh!
Sir thank you for your kind input I hope it will help explain sequential gearbox's and how to use them . The 997 as you know needs alot more then just heel and toe to drive it . During the Bahrain GP all cars were withen 2 seconds of each other. The old 996 H patern gearbox was good but as you know we have gained a lot with the new sequential gearbox . May I ask do you race in the USA GT3 championship ????

Yes I raced this year. Had a lot of fun but the travel killed me. I'm used to spending almost no time away and I will be glad to spend a lot less time in the Air. I spent too many days away from my 7 year old son. The time away I can't get back. As you know the time at the track really is no fun for anyone but a girlfriend and you. Kids are bored in about 1 hour everyday. Hope your season went well. The cars are a blast and the competition is top notch. I couldn't imagine your travel country to country. Just crossing the country was too much for me the 4 or 5 times I did it.
I agree the travel part is the only part I don't like about racing but it gives me a chance to go and enjoy the different cultures and you can say more of a holiday for me and my wife . Next year I will be racing only on the Nurburgring in the VLN championship and hoping during that time I will be able to secure a sponsorship for 2009 Supercup if you have pictures from the racing you have done it will be great if you post them

As far as different cultures we don't get that much culture change from track to track. I will say the deep south is a bit different than the rest of the US though.
Good luck on the Nurburgring as well. I would like to run that one day. Possibly when my son is older.
Good luck with your 2009 Supercup Sponsorship. That would be great. I don't post pics because I am too stupid to actually figure out how to post a picture off of my camera with lots of pixels. I am stuck copy and pasting stuff for now. Soon I will figure out how to do it correctly.
