Dilemma
Dilemma
My father purchased a 2010 Panamera S last year. It only has 2,000 kms and he has just ordered a 2011 Panamera 4S to replace it. With our harsh winters in Canada he feels the 4S will be an all year vehicle. I currently drive a 2009 C63 AMG and my father is giving me the opportunity to take the S off of his hands before selling it privately. I've obviously driven them both and really enjoy what they offer. I realize they are different vehicles and this is a Panamera forum but if you were in my position what would you do?
It would probably come down to the math and options on the Porsche. But all things equal, I'd take the P2S based on what I perceive as a nicer interior with much more usable space as well as the greater visual presence that the Panamera delivers.
I've driven a couple of C63s in the past as I was slightly considering an AMG (C63 or E63) when I bought my P2S. While they were very powerful, cars like that are rarely given the opportunity to be driven anywhere near their potential. I guess the same might be said for the Panamera, though. But given the small size and harsher ride that the C63 provides, my choice would be the Panamera.
What options does the Porsche have? Air Suspension? Leather Interior? Sport Chrono? While I opted to go without the full leather in mine, the interior is still fantastic (especially in black). The Air Suspension makes all the difference in the ride. While I don't use Sport Plus too often, I always drive it in Sport (which you can do in a non-SC car).

Hey go with the Panamera you will not look back. The C63 is a great powerful sedan but it is no match to the Panamera. They are just not in the same league. Given that both cars are RWD you really arent missing much. You will have a lot more comfort in the Panamera that you wont miss the power in the c63 a bit (The panny V8 will give you lots of Kick as well)
Good luck!
Good luck!
I guess I am the only one who would vote on keeping the MB .
I am not even a big fan of the c63 but here's my list of reasons :
1) It doesn't sound as though you were shopping for a Panamera S .It sounds more like a "want" than a "need".
The MB is still rather new . By the time you get the full use out of it the Panamera might face improvements and by then you could buy the Turbo new with the savings.
2) buying, selling, or even giving a car between family members or friends has other issues . Previous owners tend to be somewhat territorial when a car ages in someone elses care . Why take on the drama of hearing why part x or Y "worked fine " when he had it ? If you buy your own car on day 1 .. it's really yours.
As for the car itself .. I am in a similar position with transitioning from an 08 M3 as a daily car --considering what will I replace it with next year and it's between another M3 or a Panamera S . They are different cars like you've said . The M3 is actually more suitable for my needs but I am not pleased with BMW service and do like the Panamera . I am not sure if you would want the higher Hp of the Turbo but in my case it's double the cost af an M3 which I feel is too much for a daily driver .
If you make the switch I would enjoy reading the follow up as to how the transition goes .
Good luck either way .

The C63 will be refreshed for 2012 and I only have 12,000kms on it.
2.) I don't think my father would be protective over the Panamera S as he will be getting a newer one soon. I purchased a 2002 BMW 540i from him a few years ago and he never asked much about it.
As a C63 owner I'm not a big fan of the M3
but I share your feelings about Panamera Turbo! It's way too pricey for me at this time...I will probably make make the switch in April and I'll keep you posted!

[quote=OWLY;3115005]1.) I look at the Panamera at this time as an opportunity. It is definitely more of a "want" than a "need". My 2010 GTI is all I really need.

It sounds like you have arrived at a decision . I look forward to reading about the transition to the Panamera S.
Good luck !!
