Hybrid pana

Im in need of a new everyday driver but I drive 12-1500 miles a week for business and was going to consider the v6 option pana but does anyone here have the hybrid one? Was wondering what you guys think of the 31-34 mpg that the factory claims it gets. I spend a ton of time in a car so mind as well be in something I rather enjoy.

If I'm reading your post correctly, you potentially drive over 5000 miles a month just for work! No offense, but if your job is not providing a company car you should be considering something like the Camry, rather than a Panamera. At that rate, you could be accumulating mileage of over 60000 a year!

Too bad Porsche doesn't bring the diesel here!

Is most of your driving on the highway? If so the standard V6 might be almost as efficient, while being lighter and more fun to drive.

I own to small companies. A used car business and a dme company, I go to 2 auctions weekly out of state and I visit clients throughout the 5 boroughs long island and westchester for my dme company. I currently drive a 2006 Acura TL as my Daily drive and I get anywhere from 27-33mpg however it now has 136k on the clock and time for a replacement, than I saw the pana hybrid commercial and got to thinking maybe this will work for me. Just exploring my options at this point either way I'm getting a pana whether it's a dd or a weekend toy

I get it. It appears that you have some very fine weekend cars already. My 4S is my daily driver and it does the job splendidly; however, if I put in the kind of miles you do, my considerations would include normal costs for fuel, tires, and regular maintenance and I would probably lean towards a vehicle that was more "disposable" than the Pana. [At one time, my daily driver was an M6...3 sets of tires in 2 years.]

The hybrid saves fuel mainly at low speeds and city, you will gain almost nothing on the highway, the good consumption figure is due to the fact that they drive the first moments of the test without any gas and then the engine kicks in, this doesnt happen in reality.

For the that kind of highway driving and if you also love speed, Id be looking at a diesel, you cant beat it with a petrol engine. Thats why they are number 1 on German autobahns with long commutes. In your situation Id consider Audi A6 biturbo diesel or the new BMW M550xd, not sure if they will come to the US.

Wow. I thought I drove a lot of miles (25K/year) but you got me beat by a mile(s).

I'm shopping for a new car also, so I'll add my thoughts.

I'm considering a used CPO pannie V6. The cpo warranty will be useful once mileage gets over 60K or so. I think it would be a great dd that is fun to drive, but I'll put 100K miles on it in 4 years. I've never heard of a pannie or almost any modern porsche with that many miles? How will it hold up? My past 911's have been great to me, but they were weekend toys that I put less than 10K miles on per year... so hardly a comparison.

Diesel is a great idea, but not many "fun" diesel options here in the US. BMW 335d is a possibility and Audi is supposedly putting a diesel engine in the A6 later this year. Other than that, the only available options are a few german suv's and the VW Passat.

Another option I'm considering is the new Lexus GS350 F-Sport. It drives pretty damn good (for a lexus), has one of the most comfortable seats I've ever sat in, which is very important when you spend so much time in the car, and has tons of tech to play with. Plus I believe it will be very reliable well past 100K miles.

Thanks for the input, I'm gonna reconsider the pana due to maintenance frequency with my style of driving so much. Diesel option is better way to go since I'm mostly highway like you guys mentioned earlier. I agree that Lexus gs350 F sport is smokingly hot as well

I am in the same boat as both of you guys except I do 30k miles a year. I am currently shopping the Panny, M5 and E63 AMG. I have spent a bit of time here and other forums asking questions. Many people have stated they do not recommend me buying the Panny, even though I really want it, because the maintainance is expensive to somone who drives the way I do. Even if I exclude the Panny the other choices of mine are expensive to maintain as well. I am in a flux as my current daily driver (2011 BMW 535i) is relatively cheap to maintain and fits my needs. Time will tell if I bite the bullet and get the Panny or M5/E63. I am kind of waiting in the wings to see if someone makes me a killer deal that I just cannot turn down. I also second the motion for a 335d. I have a fully loaded 2011 335d and it is one of the best cars I have ever owned. Great gas mileage and comfort. However, it is the wife's car so I drive the 535i during the week. Lastly, am I the only one that thinks the V6 Panny defeats the whole purpose of getting a Panny? I think they are SLOW. My 535i is barely adequate and the V6 Panny feels even slower. At 80k I cannot see that car being worth the money and I would buy a BMW 550i, Audi S6 or some other V8 car before I paid that much for a V6 Panny. No offense intended to those that think the Panny V6 has sufficient power.
