Horn problems

Hopefully it won't be a big deal to fix, but I noticed this morning that my horn isn't working. Has anyone else here experienced problems with the horn in their Panameras?

Have you checked the fuse? Get the Owners Manual and see if it needs replacement?

I had a very weak anemic horn on my Panamera... Dealer fixed it.. It was listed as remove and reinstall on the service invoice.. I had a loaner with the same problem and mentioned it to service writer when I returned it... They told me its not uncommon, but easily fixed..

Thanks! I phoned the dealer this morning and made an appointment for next week. It seemed to me that the horn had been sounding weaker even though the statement from the recent 10K service said that the horn had checked-out fine. It's under warranty, so I'll let the dealer handle it.

Interesting...my horn is kinda embarrassing, my wife makes fun of it.

I'll see if the dealer can make it better!

I had the horn replaced in my '10 P4S quite some time ago. I had no idea of a problem until some bozo cut me off -- and I could barely hear my own horn! No way could he/she/it have heard me.

Dealer replaced horn without any issue and the problem was solved. Come to think of it, my new P-GTS is only a week old and I haven't touched the horn yet. I'd better honk it on the way home tonight to make sure it's OK!

I flash my high beams for that!

Actually, I find that other drivers often don't see me because of the car's low profile and it's been my experience to use the horn to warn other drivers from drifting into my lane.

The car is scheduled with the dealer tomorrow and I'll update after that.

So, I've now learned that the system consists of 2 horns - a low note horn and a high note horn. Apparently, after diagnostics and replacing the fuselink, both were found to be defective on my 4S. The dealer had a low note horn in stock and they installed that and ordered a high note horn. They will schedule me when that item arrives. I'll say this, the low note horn is plenty loud!

So, does anyone have any real information regarding the weak/no horn issue that doesn't include having a Porsche service department just replacing parts? It would be nice to hear from someone that does their own work, and actually know something about the repair.

Never mind...I figured it out. I replaced the cheap OEM horns with Hella Super Tones. Since the current provided by the horn switch at the horn electrical connector was weak, I added a dedicated relay to provide a better 12V source straight from the battery. I used the OEM horn wiring to energize the relay. It sounds so much better now.
