Do the leaking struts make noise when hitting bumps? The tech told me it's the control arm bushings that made the noise...

I'm afraid I did not check if the AC code is still there as I was sort of in a hurry. Just started the car. With the internal coil short the "Chassis System Failure" comes up almost instantly on start up, (right after the seat belt warning).

I wonder if I can measure the resistance on the two pins on the PASM connector in the strut, before installation, to verify if a strut is good. Still looking for full assembly options. I think the oil leaks out when the strut fails, is that not how to tell it needs replacing?
Hi, yeah the Launch ODB2 unit I bought has the service option to bleed the each side when replacing the struts. And yeah my car makes that stupid crunch suspension sound when going over speed bumps...especially when the weather is cold. For the full assembly you can't beat the price from Suncore....$1100 for both with free delivery. I had that chasis system failure a couple years ago and happened all the time. It turned out to be cracked ignition coil packs causing the system to trigger the error. I ordered all the coil packs and new plugs from ECS and changed them in my garage and all those issues went away. For the hell of it I also changed the engine air filter at the same time...what a PITA to change.

lol. I am sure you changed your mind about difficulty and worthiness of changing the air filter, as soon as you drove your panamera.
Not the standard replacement for sure, but I did not think that difficult.
I think I had a DIY for it too somewhere.

I was surprised by how easy it was to remove the headlights and bumper. Absolutely not ideal by any means but it's not difficult, just tedious and I can understand how removing the bumper would seem intimidating for the casual owner. But we gear heads roll our sleeves up, dive in and figure it out... Just like I'm about to have nearly all new front suspension haha.

I have a time limit on the return of the SCITOO strut, so I am kind of in a rush for a solution as it is currently mounted to the car. I ended up ordering one of these today:

Unity Automotive 28-133002 Front Right Air Strut 2010-2015 Porsche Panamera

http://www.walmart.com/ip/Unity-Auto...mera/920714050

Should arrive at my local Walmart by Monday, but I may not have time to pick it up until Tuesday. Now to figure out if/what tool to get to do the bleeding an filling of the replacement, or have the shop install it again....

haha....it wasn't difficult just stupid that it takes that much to change a filter. The look on my wife's face was priceless when she saw the front bumper sitting on the garage floor lol.

Is there 1, 2, or 3 filters? That’s what is getting me. But seems like the air filter change interval was something like 80k miles when I was researching if I should change it/them?

Please update us on if the Launch X431 v Pro works. I just emailed vxdiagshop to figure out which one of their units is capable of bleeding and filling the struts.

I should go check the resistance across the PASM pins to see what’s the difference between a good strut and one with shorted coil. I’ll report when I do. Also check if disconnecting the battery cleared the AC code...

Thanks.

I know this is the air shock thread, so I apologize for asking about the compressor, but I'm hoping for some input.

We know RMT offers reman'd and new Continental compressors. I've been looking elsewhere and actually found an Amazon retailer that has, or at least lists a new
Continental compressor Continental compressor
for only $345. Now the price compared to RMT's $800+ Continental unit is great, the "catch" is the company on Amazon is GELUOXI... Like who tf is that? If it's a Continental compressor, does it matter who the retailer is?

Aside from RMT, FVD doesn't have any listed and Suncore is currently out of stock. Does anyone have a reputable source for either a reman'd or a new Continental compressor? And any thoughts regarding reman'd vs new?

And lastly the Compressor relay from PartsGeek is a Bosch unit, at a fraction of the cost from other places. Thoughts?

If on Amazon, be sure it's "Fulfilled by Amazon" is my best advice. I bought the strut with that and Amazon has given me the return label already...

Have no idea about Parts Geek...

My concern with Parts Geek is they have multiple parts from the same manufactures but at different prices and they show as different catalogs. For example the upper control arms for the PTT from Lemfoerder has 2 different part numbers at different prices. I think they are just a middle man that processes the transaction and order is fulfilled by another supplier....just my guess.

Regards to the air compressor I checked and it's fulfilled by Amazon and for me it's same day delivery. I would be reassured that even if you have an issue Amazon will take care of it. It also has free returns. Hell if I need one I'm ordering this one too....on my Amazon credit card which extends the return policy :<)

I changed the engine and air cabin filters when I did this. Regards to bleeding the system the Launch I have bleeds the system....I'll send screenshots from the device. It comes with 2 years of software upgrades and I get an email response within 12-18 hours whenever I ask a question. I have no complaints...plus the ODB2 dongle is bluetooth and I can sit in my family room watching tv while scanning my car in the garage. Love that for sure...Oh and it's like 60 or 90 days free returns no questions asked.

Ya it says it's sold by CDSRKJ and fulfilled by Amazon.

I also just found a new German compressor made by Miessler Automotive and comes with the relay for $475 free shipping... Damn there's def options to choose from, just unsure which to buy.

Thanks FIRST_PORSCHE!

Regarding the compressor, did you confirm yours has gone bad, ie pulled the codes? I’m not going to replace ours, but I stopped driving it very soon after the first Chassis System Failure message. Best first confirm you have a bad one. If you need to purchase one I guess it’s trial and error unless someone confirms a good one...

I’m basically working my way up the pricing order, lowest to highest, on the strut, especially since AutoZone can’t get either that they list.

BTW- The only place that seems to have Arnott struts is FCP Euro, if someone is interested. At that price I guess we’ll just take the $23xx offer to finish the job at the local reputable Porsche independent shop and only replace the bag.

I think my compressor is fine so for now I'm leaving it alone. I'm putting the car up on jack stands today so start taking it apart. BTW from the Porsche service manual it says that the complete assembly (air bellow & shock) be replaced every 120,000 miles(200,000 km). I'm going to check mine and confirm they are not leaking and if all good I'm just installing the new air bellows on the existing shocks. I only have 50K miles on my car but roads in Michigan are worse then war ravaged countries. I'm keeping my fingers crossed on that one....

I did pull the codes and I got the "compressor temperature limit exceeded" fault for the compressor. After clearing the codes it never kicked on, and nothing I did got the compressor the start again (getting in/out, opening the trunk, starting/shutting off etc). That's when I inspected the front struts and found noticeable cracks in the rubber similar to what others have shared photos of. So two new front struts, control arms, and compressor coming right up!

There are two electrical connectors on each strut. I tried to measure the resistance on them but my probes are less than ideal. The very thin pins are deep in the two sockets. As far as I can tell no unusual deviations, I may need to trace the wiring....
