Hesitation when shifting WOT into 3rd gear

Hi y’all! Just picked up a 14 Panamera Turbo in agate gray with 60k miles. Car is a blast to drive—love how RWD biased it is. I’ve noticed a few quirks from the car and wanted to see if anyone had any potential leads into what could be wrong / upcoming. The biggest complaint I have is that the car tends to fall flat on its face after shifting from 2nd to 3rd WOT. It almost feels like a fuel cut off is happening. It eventually picks back up but the power and doesn’t seem nearly as smooth as the videos I’ve seen from others. It didn’t do this once though and felt great!

I’ve noticed the car tends to misfire at idle—especially hard when it first starts up from a cold start and then after warmed up with the AC off. Also isn’t super smooth when lightly accelerating in the 1.5-3k powerband sporadically.

Does this sound normal for these cars? Anyone else have the 3rd face plant? I already did a PDK reset. Made the car drive smoother but didn’t seem to fix this issue.

I unfortunately don’t have a PIWIS—was hoping VCDS was compatible since I’m coming from Audi’s.

Kind of a crummy way to start off a new to me car, but I guess it’s par for the coarse with a 60k miles performance car. Thankfully it’s certified but you know how dealers are with this stuff. They’ll probably describe it is operating as normal...

Hi And welcome!
VCDS Worked brilliantly on my Cayenne (955) with an adapter to get both k-lines simultaneously.
Not tried with the Panamera - maybe something to do at some point.
Let us know how you get on.
oh, and your misfire - you need a code, however I had an occasional lumpy idle (usually first thing or when v hot). Turned out the be two cracked coil packs.
I’d plan an 8 of each (quite easy DIY).
might also cure your shift issues you never know.

Since it's certified I'd bring it in. You paid extra for that...

Definitely going to. I'm used to dealerships not caring to perform work when a CEL isn't present. Seems the Porsche dealers around me are more willing to figure out the problem though.

did the dealer ever figure it out? I have the same issue, is seems shifting into third WOT is the only change when boost noticeably drops off

We did find some issues, and I don’t know the exact codes being thrown. It equated to having a random misfire and some wearables. We aren’t sure if this will fix the 3rd gear hesitation, but my car needs new coil packs, motor mounts, and control arms. Thankfully mine is certified. Otherwise that would have been a hefty bill. Control arms and starting to wear out badly due to lots of sudden vibration when turning the wheel when stationary.

im starting to wondering if it’s a PDK issue. I’m noticing that 1st gear compared to 2nd feels way less powerful in the butt dyno. But also wondering if Torque is limited in first gear which would explain that.

I’ll keep this thread updated on it. Would love to know if you find out more on your end.

Did you every find a solution to the "3rd gear faceplant?"
