Piwis 2 tester - location to recode battery
Anyone here have or used PIWIS 2 tester, to recode battery when replaced? Where in the PIWIS 2 software is the option to do this? Diagnostics? I have searched but could not locate.
Thanks.
Thanks.

I had to search up how, but I just saw your question maybe 30 mins ago and have been searching since. I didn't download the instructions sadly and YouTube videos show aftermarket tools...
Yes, checked today. Battery decode is under gateway/repairs. However when I change the values to 95Ah, any batt name, make up serial, make up part number, and press F8 to save, it tells me values are saved, but when I exit, then return, read out shows same old values still there, my entries not saved. Am I doing something wrong here?
No wonder I had a hard time with the Foxwell tool, even PIWIS has trouble...
I guess the computer is finicky with formatting.
Does it give you the # of characters you need to enter for part # and serial #?
I can't remember off the top of my head and video took too much Google drive space it may be deleted...
Try using the same manufacturer as original
Enter the part # with the "." so 11 characters.
Enter serial number as 10 characters I believe. Crossing fingers for you...

I installed a Diehard AGM battery yesterday and registered it using my iCarsoft Scanner POR V2.0
I selected 95ah AGM for the capacity.
The scanner listed several brands, but not the Diehard, so I selected "Reserved 1"
The serial number entered just fine using the number shown on the battery, 10 characters as I recall.
The part number I got from the Internet by doing a Google Search on "Panamera Battery". One of the sources selling genuine Porsche batteries listed the part number. I used that info and it input OK without issues.
While entering the data, I was careful to match the upper/lower case letters when appropriate.
Everything "took" OK and as far as I can tell, I'm good to go. No sparks, no fires, and no explosions so far.

Followed examples for serial and part number. Used varta for vendor. F8 to save, confirmed success, but checked again to see values unchanged. Again. Hmmm. Not sure what to do next.
Havent used reserved mfg yet. Next step I guess.

When I read the data, it only reported vendor and Ah rating. Serial and part number fields were blank.
Unfortunately, Durametric can’t recode for new battery. For Panamera, Durametric is good for resetting service minder and reading fault codes. I just sold my Durametric Pro cable for this reason now that I got a PIWIS 2.
I’m watching this thread carefully as I will likely need a new battery (mine is going on 6 years).

That doesn't sound good. Should read properly, did it read your VIN correctly? Sounds like you should contact the PIWIS vendor at this point...
