XM Antenna (?) problems
XM Antenna (?) problems
Reception was pretty good up until recently. When I pop the engine cover
the reception works better - when I close it becomes worse than sporadic. Obviously I can't leave it open & drive.
Leads me to believe something is loose in there. Has anybody had the problem & if so how do I troubleshoot this myself?
Sure it's a warranty thing, but I'm two hours each way to get the to the dealer.
Thanks!

Had XM "refresh" the signal & reception still goes in & out where on the other cars - no problem. BTW, no fun dealing with XM customer service!
W/an "exploded" view of the pod assembly & how it's attached, I could take it apart & check if a wire is broken/loose etc.....not a lot of moving parts in an antenna.
Thanks.....Initially thought that too, but own two other cars w/ XM & no problems (Acura's).

H, I'd let the dealer deal with the issue regarding the antenna.
Merry Christmas!
As a method to bypass the insanity of XM, I even got a new credit card. Unfortunately Amex recently changed their terms and conditions to pass along the new cc info to merchants that have reoccurring charges. As sad as it sounds, if I ever did reactivate, I would get a prepaid Visa and use that.
Whenever I did turn up a radio, I always used a different email, credit card and variation of my name so they could never tie me to previous radios, to no avail. On my last chargeback, XM provided documentation to Amex justifying their charges. What was interesting was they sent a screenshot and on the left hand side was the history accounts the agent had looked at, they were all mine under company names, personal names and my spouse. I guess they somehow outsmarted me, even with using different credit card and account numbers.
Sorry to get off track....happy holidays.
Amen Haku, same here. It wasn't worth the trouble even at $25/6 month "promotion" I finally had them cancel all 3 of my cars because they never have their sh$t together. I can't tell you how many times I've had to do a chargeback only to find its for some radio in a car I already cancelled and don't even own.

I always give XM my debit card with $xxx amount of money in it. I make sure it is down to $10 by the time renewal is coming up :-)

Surprising they had those accounts linked
With smartphones for nav traffic and Pandora for streaming, unless I am on a cross country drive, I see no need for XM anymore.

Dealer ordered a new XM antenna. Comes w/primer finish & needs to be painted to body color prior to install.
Warned me that sometimes it's not just the antenna, but possibly deeper in the PCM.
Probably a couple weeks more - I keep paying for XM service though.

A couple of years ago I called XM CS and got a woman with a very heavy Caribbean accent, "mon". There was a lot of calypso music and many people talking & laughing in the background. I think she was taking the call from a poolside bar.
No joke, SiriusXM is the new low-watermark for customer service. Saturday Night Live should do a skit on them.

Recently though, the on line info is much improved - although the runaround
on the phone still leaves a lot to be desired, it is better than before.
The smartphone has changed the game & they don't have a captive market.
