PSE Retrofit

So, I bought the necessary parts listed on the factory install instructions for my 2014 C4S. I didn't buy the new straps or side mufflers, tips or clamps as all my factory stuff was serviceable. The project took roughly 3+ total hours to do and was only slightly more difficult than changing the Serpentine belt, filters and plugs. Decent hand tools and jack stands are a must however. Sonnen sold me everything but the center muffler. I got the center muffler from Merriam (Aristocrat Porsche?) out of Kansas. Just a note, it isn't necessary to remove the bumper skin, only the rear spoiler. I have yet to have the programming done, but my dealer indicates about an hour of PIWIS time should do it ($150 of the total $1525). I am really looking forward to a new voice! At the present the new console switch panel is installed but some of the previously/factory installed button features no longer work. Motivation to finish I suppose...

If my car did not have the PSE I would have opted for a Sharkwerks muffler as the one I had on my 997.2TT was the best exhaust I have ever had on a Porsche.

I really liked the Soul Performance sound. However, I felt at the price I stated it was a no-brainer to go PSE. Besides, I love Porsche's parts systems, as everything is readily available, discount source'able and always fits!

My car didn't come with PSE, I installed the AWE system and "PSE Button" to allow me more control. I hated the AWE, returned it due to significant drone when the valves would open at ~3300rpm. I then opted for the OEM PSE exhaust. It is perfection. That being said, I wanted to try something else and now have the Soul Exhaust. Both are great exhausts for the 991, albeit apples to oranges comparisons. The 991 definitely likes to bark and crackle for sure! Enjoy it, definitely the most important mod on this car IMO

Thanks Ron1X,
I'm hoping I might get a walk-in slot tomorrow for the software update, (otherwise July 2nd). I am pretty excited about this "update"!

Sooo, took the 14 C4S to my local service department who let me have a walk-in slot for the PSE software update. And, well.....Nothing! PSE still not working, Argghhhh!!! COV for the exhaust is dead! Swapped the valve out and now my car sounds, well, SERIOUS! I love the deeper throatier sound, but those crackles and pops while spooling down are awesome! I catch myself fluffing the go pedal just to hear the deceleration sounds. All you folks were right! Money well spent!

Glad you are enjoying it. I requested a quote to install on my 997.2 from the local dealer and the Service Manager discouraged me from spending the $ “just to make the car louder”. When I traded for my 991.1, PSE was a must and one of my favorite features. Absolutely love it! Was thinking about it today and wishing I could get something like that for my F150. But then it wouldn’t be as special.

Looking to add this option so I checked with SunCoast and they sell the "upgrade kit" but it includes the tips which I don't need (have TechArt). Assume the only option then is to purchase from a dealer each part separately - if accurate does anyone have a recommendation for a dealer in SoCal area with reasonable pricing?

I believe this is the needed parts list for S model (2014 911 S Cab) - rough est. $1,400 from prior posts:
991-111-437-07 x 1
991-111-482-00 x 2
900-910-003-03 x 6
999-651-401-01 x 1
991-111-492-00 x 2
991-111-491-00 x 1
991-111-488-00 x 1
900-918-005-40 x 1
991-613-967-03-DML x 1 (switch specific for Cab)

Thx

I purchased a used PSE muffler for my Non PSE 2013 CS and am anxious to install it. I still have to purchase a console switch assembly and have my stealership hook it all up.

Sonnen, ask for Neil. Tip top service with excellent prices! Now, if they'd just open an East Coast unit!
