Is Fabspeeds Parts Made In Taiwan?
Someone Told Me That Fabspeeds Products Are Being Made In Taiwan And They Are Not Being Made In The Usa? Is This True Because On There Site It Says It Is Made In The Usa?

I've run into this question with my moonlight business. All of my fabrication is done in the USA, but all of the electronic chips come from offshore. There simply are no US equivalents to buy.
People can carry this to the extreme: Were the metal ores mined in the US? Was the welding filler rod made in the US? Where did the steel come from? Clamps? What about the tools used during fabrication?
For my business I decided that "Made in USA" was appropriate because the bare circuit board, the entire enclosure, and all assembly is US-based.

If 'some' of the component parts can only be had offshore, so be it; however, I usually chose products Made in USA. Some people have the nerve to charge exorbitant prices on Made in China stuff (ie: Polo clothing)... I'm not going for it.
There is some sort of special coming on TV about Chinese chips in US weapons (guns and fighter jets). I wouldn't want to go into battle knowing my life was riding on some substandard Chinese knockoffs.

Question - Not to cause offense, it's a genuine question
Why is it important if it's made in the US??
I see people talk about this when I'm looking for all sorts of things....car parts, tools, guitars, etc.....
Is it down to keeping US citizens in work?
Like I said, no offense meant
We don't make a thing over here anymore, so I'm interested to hear peoples thoughts
Thanks

Ant, i think the perception is that if it's made in the USA that the parts will be of better quality. That said, of the maker in question, it seems it wouldn't matter. Their parts are crap in general... Pretty much on par with "agency power" and the like... You get what you pay for...

did someone say something offensive? While there is room for some heated response, there hasn't been any.

I am all for supporting the economy and of course buying higher quality products in the USA, but lately, I've seen so much shoddy products from the US...it's not an apples to apples comparison when saying product X from the US is so much better than product Y from China.
It really depends on who designed it and whether quality controls are in place.
I'd like to get my money's worth (value) and paying more for US made products that are subpar don't cut it for me.
