Stalling problem

Car lugs or stalls if I blip the throttle from idle. Approx 200-300rpms above idle. It's been doing this since I got it. I've had the motor replaced with a new Porsche engine for a different problem and it still does this. Do you think it's ecu related? I have the stock program still.

MY and model...please...have you read the codes? That idle is too low fo sho. It can be changed in the ECU, but there may be other issues.

New engine? That would rule out anything in the engine. At least for an first shot, internet based diagnosis...

I'd look at your throttle potentiometers- not sure but there are probably ways to interrogate that with a diagnostic computer as well as a procedure for calibrating them...

You don't have a light weight flywheel do you?

wross- it's a 2001 966 TT. I haven't had the codes read. I will mention it to the dealer the next time I need to go in. It's not a real big deal. It doesn't cause me any problems, as I don't blip it unless I'm trying to upshift or downshift...and then I'm moving so it doesn't effect anything. I just wasn't sure if this was a normal, as I just bought it last August and I'm getting to know it. I thought it would resolve itself after the new engine, but I guess it didn't.

art4iza - since it's a new engine from porsche, I would guess the oem plugs.

996garage- yes i do, I had it installed the same time I got the new engine installed. Before when I had the dual mass flywheel, it would just lug a little, but now that I have the lwfw it will lug and then stall 50% of the time. However, this only happens when I blip it lightly. If I rev it to around to 2-3k...then it doesn't lug. rev's just fall normally.

As I said before, I didn't know if this was normal for this model or if it was something else. With the new motor, I'm inclined to think it's the ECU.

The LWFW is causing at least some of the issue, it lacks the inertia that the OEM one does. Tweaking the ECU will fix that part of it. It might be helpful if you could explain what you mean by "lug" when you attempt to blip the throttle - it doesn't rev?

Suddenly after I put in a LWFW, I would potentially stall anytime I got off the throttle quickly. You definitely have to change your driving a bit to avoid the stalling. (ie, letting the engine rev down a bit before pushing the clutch in when stopping) I have a UMW flash, and Kevin was able to give me a program fix to help with the stalling problem.

I'm experiencing the same issue, but I don't have a lwfw. ECU is definitely flashed but I don't know by who. Any suggestions? I also pulled he MAF and sprayed it with MAF cleaner, but it didn't look dirty anyway.

I'm a pretty new owner, but I also have a lwfw I have the same issues. I don't stall anymore because I just make sure the revs don't drop too low. Sometimes the ecu blips the revs when I don't expect it but I hear it's normal.

If you have a LWFW, have your idle raised slightly to reduce the stalling. As for stalling in general from throttle blips, I had this issue. The answer was repairing a vacuum/boost leak. I had small leaks on a couple hoses. Drivers Source tracked them down and the issue went away. Boost went up .2 bar as well. It was easy because I didn't do it.
