996 Turbo LED Taillights- how can we get em made?
Sadly wholesale product development doesn't skip steps or pass any potential savings on. You can get ANYTHING you want manufactured. You just have to pay. No pay, no play. With such low production numbers and increasingly price sensitive prospective customers why anyone would take the risk is beyond me. I certainly am not taking the project on. Sounds like a waste of time and lots BS. (but then I already knew that from last time
)Like I said at the beginning of this thread, it ain't gonna happen.
Anyone thinking of adapting the NB led tails to the WB.
What exactly are the differences between the two taillights? Besides the obvious width? Are the curves identical? Any pics of the taillights side by side? it seems to make more sense to adapt the led taillights to our cars than having having it made.
I have a small factory in china I can build aluminum brackets to fit 997.2 tail lights and suppose the bracket can then be sprayed to the colour of the car but i don't have dimensions of the 996 TT tail light or the housing.
i don't actually know the dimensions of the WB 996 tail lights but they do seem alot bigger so my guess is if there is enough room, making a bracket surrounding the 997.2 light which can bolt up to the WB body might be easier.
And in turn make it easier for the body shop to mold them into the car(the aluminum panels).
Now we're talking!!
997.1 are more triangular and the 997.2 are curved at the bottom. Someone must have some 997.1/.2 taillights laying around that we can do a test fit on a 996 WB. So we can help out rrdralli with dimensions to get brackets made.
my original thought was to build a bracket to fit the 997.2 tails lights and then just screw the entire unit on the car so it could be reversible back to the 996 stock lights if needed but definately molding it would look much better I agree.
