Cruise control problem

So I'm having an issue with my Cruise Control turning on. It started very intermittently but happens over 50% of the time I drive the car now. I would press the button in the CC stalk and the green light on the dash would not illuminate, and none of the CC functions would work. Turning the car off and letting it sit for a minute and turning it back on fixes it sometimes but since it's gotten worse that doesn't always work. If the light turns on, the cruise works perfectly. Anyone else have this issue or know what I should look at?

I can replace only the stalk? Interesting.

What's weird is that pushing the button repeatedly doesn't ever work. I have to actually power cycle the car which led me to think it might not be the stalk itself.

Buzzmobile is infamous around these parts
I have left mine on permanently for the last 14 years with no problems. The circuit and green dash icon are automatically on whenever I restart the car. I never touch the on/off button, so no wear and tear on it. I just use the stalk to set, cancel, accelerate or decelerate. Usually I just tap the clutch or brake pedal slightly to cancel. Works well for me. I set it really frequently whenever I drive, even in the city, to avoid accidental tickets ( my car really wants to drive at 20 over the limit no matter what the limit is ).

Thanks for the idea. I just leave it on now and it works every time I start the car.

I removed my sissy clutch booster spring, as many have and now my CC mostly works, but sometimes will quit. It's simply a matter of putting a light spring in its place to fully extend the clutch pedal when not depressed. This mod is nice but makes more (huge) difference on the N/A cars.
