"most (not all)" is a generalization and a disclaimer, so I don't judge it as stupid as you say... I guess it comes down to how you interpret the word "most" and "not all"... Many people have levied their opinions on the car and probably won't or can't buy a lambo ever...That is fine, this is a free country and a public forum is a great place to express one's opinions....But I find it a bit tasteless for people to just slam a car, just for the sake of slamming. There are people on this forum, who do own Gallardo's or are in the process of ordering one. How do you think it would make them feel to see their car getting bashed constantly??? Maybe they don't care, but if I was one of those people, I would be defending the car. I just find it funny that people can be so critical of a great car whithout having any real legitimate basis to do so. Guess that's just the nature of this world these days and that's a shame...

Yes, I do believe it is a Lambo...It's built by them and has their motor albeit with Audi's influence. I feel pretty confident that all Lambo's down the road will have this influence(Simple Economics). If people prefer unrealiability and high maintenance(The Lambo Mystique) and are considering a Lambo, they better buy one of the non-audi ones soon...

Just figured something out about the two lambos - Murci owners are probably ticked that the Gallardo looks so much like the Murci (to those who don't really know), a la Boxster/911 comparisons, where those who get the higher end car are often mistaken for having the lower end car.

You're not the only one. I followed the XJ220 from conception and it was a let down from the beginning. Not to mention the dozens of pissed off prospective owners who put down a deposit only to find out that Jag would scrap the 12. This was one of the reasons that Jag still had a stockpile of XJ220’s years after the release. It’s still a cool car; I just can’t respect a company that doesn’t fulfill their obligations.

there's one thing in defending a car based on its merits (lots of people like the way it looks, handling/performance/etc are top notch, most auto reviewers have given it huge raves, Robb Report chose it above the Porsche Turbo Cab in recent mag, EVO said the Gallardo beats the Turbo & 360,etc. ad nauseum.)

but I don't think a legitimate defense is saying that people should shut up because they can't afford or will never have one. Not only is that line of logic slightly offensive, I would guess it is completely wrong.

anyway are we on a Lambo board? I can see how it is completely tasteless to go to a Lambo board and post anything about their cars, but on a Porsche board I would assume it would be ok.

Did I say shut up??? I don't believe so...As I said, it's a forum to freely state opinions, hence you got mine....

The Porsche 996TT is a car of great merit. It combines great performance, modding ability and daily useability. The Porsches downfall, is that it is not nearly as exotic as a Lambo. The Gallardo takes all the Porsches great qualities, and combines them in an exotic package. From my limited seat time, the Gallardo is an incredible achievement, but not nearly as exciting as a Murcielago, but more so than a 996TT.

So then what is the definition of exotic?

Unreliable?
Lousy visibility?
Poor aerodynamics?
Slow?
Lousy handling?
Needs Audi to launch its sales?
Overpriced?

I'd rather buy a Porsche.. Oops, past tence - I did.

Sounds to me like you have an inferiority complex. The definition of exotic in my opinion, is a car that i dont see coming and going on every street corner. Something untrue of the Porsche.

As for implying unreliability, think again. My Lambos have been just as reliable if not more so than any Porsche ive owned even with Nitrous. If you can say youve only changed the oil in your 996TT in many years of ownership, then you can say your car has been as reliable as my Lambo.
Visibility? You get used to it, only difficult in backing up and then it becomes second nature.
Poor aerodynamics? Check again, Low 30's.
Slow? 210mph, and High 11's at 120+ out the box slow?
Audi to launch it sales? Lambo survived, albeit just barely on a single supercar for most of its life. The Countach, then the Diablo. Id like to see Porsche have survived on only 930 sales.
Overpriced? Not inmo. Lambo is the only car you can buy, and drive for 25 years, that will always be a showstopper. In 25 years, the Porsche will be just another old Porsche. Drive a 25 year old Countach next to your 996TT and see which one gets noticed.

For the openminded others, please dont take this as my bashing on Porsche, as it is my second favorite car company, much moreso than Ferrari.

Gee I guess these fall in your line of exotics...

Moris Miner
Skoda
BMW Isetta

I do appreciate the design of lamborghini, even if its less aerodynamic than the heavy Audi A8 and Lexus LS430.

how many miles per year do you tend to drive the Lambo?

if you put on 10k per year (assuming you don't) would that change the reliability?

LOL! Yes, people just flock to Porsches, and go crazy over them! I could see it now, that poor Lambo owner, sitting at the pump, while you bask in all the Porsches glory. Haha

Get real. Judging by your choice of cars, i can see that you like numb, and uninspiring vehicles. Thats ok.

Myself personally, im going to buy a 996TT now so that when its raining, i dont have to get my other cars dirty.

Also, dont get me wrong, i too would buy a SL600 or an Rs6 if i were in financial straits.

Not only do i drive my Diablo almost daily, but i also spray as much as a 200shot of nitrous. Do i put 10,000 miles a year on it? No, approx 7-8000 miles yearly. This island is too small to put any more on.

But, on the mainland i had a 92 Diablo, which i also drove daily, and put more than 10,000 miles yearly, which i had the same experience with. Its the people who dont drive their cars that have issues.

Holy crap Allan. Now I see why the F board was ripping on you so much. Your arrogance is amazing.

I love how you buy cars in order to get attention. Enjoy the attention because it's obviously making up for something else you must be lacking in your life. LOL

Enjoy your jewelry mobile.

edit: I read your last post right after posting this...

Arrogance? You must be mistaking arrogance for confidence.

Nitrous? Whats wrong with nitrous? People here use nitrous on their Porsches, and thats ok, so its not ok for someone else?

As for Fchat, if i dont get along with some people there, half the time its for defending Porsches, which to them is the bottem of the barrel.
