All right, I did do a lot of work on my Lambo. Very little of it was “necessary”. I did it because I wanted to own the car for 20 years so I said make it perfect. Further, I said make it handle the track. These are pretty big demands for a 20 year old car, and I had to pay for it.

Now, I bought a turbo. Why? I broke a spindle in the middle of a track turn on the lambo. I have two young kids and do not accept mechanical failure as an excuse so ... off to the most reliable, track performing car made ... P. (Yes, the Pcar can break, just way less likely than the Lambo.)

Sadly, most Lambos do go to posers in my view. Few people know how to drive them hard and are willing to do it. I thought the notoriety the Lambo brought was a drawback (just my personal preference). It attracts everybody over almost everything. It really is quite amazing and I don't like that attention from strangers. Appreciation from respectable, informed persons, sure, and you get a lot of those, but you get more baggy pants, link key chain, mullet types than you would ever want.

I still love the Lambo but I will probably sell it. I want to improve my skills driving the tt and I don’t do that while I’m in the seat of the Lambo. Will I miss it, yes. You really need to own one to understand just how amazing and special these cars are. Pains in the *** … sure, but that doesn’t stop you from wanting to fire it up the next nice day that happens around. And I am still trying to decide if I can bear to sell it. The Pcar is a great car, the Lambo is rolling artwork. Very different, that’s all there is to it.

Tim, I apologize for making the assumption that the "work" was all done out of necesity. Thanks for the honest post, and knowing you, believe me, the posear comment was in no way directed at you. It's just, every Lambo owner I ever meet is really not even a car guy. So full of himself and how great his car is, you would think the guy believes he has unhuman powers.

Lou

Please, get real. You will not find Vw parts in a Lambo. Wow, you could beat a 1979 Lambo. Ill agree with that. As for me seeing fumes, LOL, i'll take that bet at any time my friend. Ill even give you the jump.

Comparing Tims Countach to a modern day Lambo is comparing apples to oranges. Night and day difference. Is the Porsche a better daily driver... yes it is. Only because its not a fiasco every time you take it out. As for the Lambo being a posear car, not at all. Ive owned just about every car out there, and nothing puts a smile on your face better than a Lambo.

If you like comparing track times, the big over grown Murcielago, recently ran a 7.43 on the Nurburgring, clocked 1.12 at Hockenheim, and holds the record time on Top Gears track. All considerably better than any stock Porsche.
Oh, forget it. You're the man Ellen.

I think allenlambo needs to loosen the gold medallion chain as its constricting blood flow to his brain.

Lou:

No apology necessary, but thanks anyway. As most people have already learned, I’m about as straight up as you get so I simply tell the truth. I like Lambo's but don't like the Murci and especially don't like the Gallardo. If other people do like it, like Allen, that's OK. It’s personal taste and they certainly aren't bad cars.

I really don’t think Allen is a bad guy, just that he’s probably a little frustrated defending his position all the time so is more aggressive than he should be. Kind of like me and explaining braking and ABS to people who don’t want to learn.

The ABS braking technique on the track wrecks rotors!!!!

The Galardo is the first decent looking Lambo ever produced IMO.

"So almost 3 times as many in one year as the total of Lambos produced."

Yes, which is just one of the reasons why Lambos suck when it comes to service and parts availabilty/cost.

"4 years, 40,000 miles warranty... "

It's 50k miles, and a single digit % of all street version Lambos ever made have hit that - ever, much less in 4 years. Lambo has always been junk and maybe with Audi's help, they won't be anymore.

Junk? You guys need to stop holding the 911 on an imaginary pedestal. I love the 911 as much as everyone else, but it isn’t Gods creation.

Yes, not every car can look as nice as your Boxster. My wife wouldnt even drive one of those.

Out of curiosity, how does it feel when the kid in the Honda with the fart can blows your doors off?

OK PEOPLE...
Finally went to the showroom today here in Saudi Arabia and got to play with one...I saw both the pearlescent yellow and orange as well as a few blacks (one with 2-tone blk grey one with blk/red)...
This car is a BEAUTY!!! Dont care what anyone says about nose being squashed etc...I did not get to drive one cause the weather here today wasnt great (dust storm so poor visibility outside) but I will try to do so soon. I did however get to sit in play with all the buttons and rev it up The sound is exhilirating but the funny thing was that the cabin was very well insulated and not noisy at all (a bit wierd for a lambo IMO). I didnt like the non-traditional headlight switches but hey...the one I sat in didnt have nav either (not a very popular option yet in this part of the world unfortunately).
I also did not know that the Gallardo uses the same brake setup on my TT: big 8-piston Brembos upfront and 4-piston bad boys in the rear...One less mod for that car needed LOL
I really want one now and if anyone knows of a dealer where I can order one to spec at MSRP for a reasonable delivery date (no rush) I AM DOWN!!
