I like the GT30R turbos myself and I think that's the way CJV will end up going. Jamie's set up ought to be really fast this way!

Correct you can, but they rarely work as well as an external BC at high boost levels. At least in the Supra community, no ones relies on the Motec or AEM to control boost when running 7's. For a street car, I'm sure it would work fine for lower boost levels.
But back to the point between relying on either a BC or a Flashloader, I personally see no difference? Both approaches require a manual 5 second mental and physical input from the driver if and when they change fuels. Every car I know that runs different boost levels for different conditions needs some type of manual input from the driver. Like Markski said, if you can't remember to turn the boost down in certain situations, you should be driving a stock car with a warranty
I dont disagree about the boost controller most High HP cars use them but at the same time when they switch boost levels they also switch there files for the high octane fuel! MOST of them anyway. that is the difference. I'm no mad scientist but, I've had plenty of high hp cars & always switched my files when i ran the KOOL AID & swicthed to high boost!

Alex i doubt Mark cares about starting in 4th WOT at 20mph or w/e lol!!
He has an INSANE redline, and more powerband starting at 4k to redline witht hose turbos (with insane power being made) then a regular turbo with hybrids revving to 7k, its all preference i guess!
Mark said his setup wasnt laggy, and i guess that is true in the ideal gear and at the mph, thing is even NA cars ina high gear feel laggy without the turbos ha, i think mark's setup is fine, and he sure is loving it, wait until you see what those turbo's can do

I think we all get caught up in having big-*** turbos. For some reason I want them smaller... some things come best in small packadges

Anyway as he mentioned, im sure anyone who hopped in his car or took it for a little spin would be pleasantly surprised in how it feels lag wise!

I was really not referring to the willie measurement contest
. When I pay for 600HP I want to know that I have them, and if I need to do a shiftless run to beat a 400HP car with 2 shifts, I might have bragging rights, but not a 600HP engine, and I would be seriously pissed off. I was just mentioning that a one shift, or shiftless run, is not real street driving conditions and cannot be compared to magazines (2 shifts) or each other, however as far as bragging rights on the forum or rankings etc.., certainly cool.

If you are running side by side with another car that has quite similar HP, from say 50mph, and you start racing each other, you would certainly want to be in 3rd. (or second in a 996 maybe), otherwise if you start in 4th., the other car will jump ahead of you so far ahead that you will never catch him back, he won.
The time that it takes you to reach 60-130mph will not matter, he will be ahead of you anyway.
But again, for the sakes of the rankings, great, but if you are interested to know how honest your tuner is with his numbers and what you paid for, then you would compare apples to apples, or at least try to. It all depends what each one of us is after at the end of the day, no right or wrong answer.

Hey, We're all in it for a little education on different setups & how they compare in diff situations. Might as well have a little fun while we'er at it
All this is just a teaser, especially for me since my car is under the knife & the whether sucks anyway! All i have is the forum & the crack pipe

A 2 shift 6.4s 60-130mph is certainly much more relevant than a "no shift" run, and it includes almost a 1 second shift time in the 6.4s. That being said, out of curiosity, it might be fun to know.

I made a mistake.. I used one shift....
40 mph roll on did not do well. at 40 mph Im at 2300 rpms...
mind you guys I did this at .8 bar only.... Im not sure what it will do at 1.5 bars without any shifts....
I have 2 cars with garrett GT35Rs and I love them....
I can always do some magic to my gt35rs... put in the 76 mm lightweight compressor.
