AAAAARGGGHHHHH...I broke another JIC sway bar link!#@$%#@!!!
Guys,
I noticed this weekend that I broke another link...what is the deal???!!!????
I bought this car 5 months ago from a great guy from this site and noticed upon inspection that the weak JIC sway bar link was snapped. I contacted along with Ruiner, JIC to get new links which they never sent....they were supposed to send them within the week. I posted up about it and recieved new links from another member (forgive me as I forgot his bourd name) and they were the newly upgraded, beefier designed JIC links. These things were nice!
Well, my car was behaving abnormally so I suspected it was the link and sure enough it was the drivers side link that snapped, again, at the neck right behind the connector! The neck is a good 1/2 inch think!
Does anyone have suggestions on who to get links from or ideas to stop this happening again? I was thinking of lowering the car a bit more, upgrade the sways and now probably the links...ANY IDEAS would be great!
Thanks all!
Michael

See my signature,
The Cross?JIC links are **** !!!
this is a known problem and I am WAITING for a call back from
Magic Paul.
Did you have the adjustable links or the solid links??
Supposedly the solid ones are stronger, but I do not know this for
a fact. Please keep us updated as to how JIC/Magic responds takes
care of you. It is common knowledge that they lost several good distributors
(GOOD BOARD SPONSORS) because of poor follow-up and service.
Anybody can take your money but how about when we have problems...?"
PAUL,
What is your solution???????????

Sorry to hear about your problem. I know TPC in Jessup carries drop links that I imagine would fit. This is the first time I ever heard of this kind of breakage. If I were you, I would try to find out what is causing it to break. Sounds like improper loading, perhaps something isn't set up right. Good luck.
Yeah,
Guys, this isn't a bashing link on JIC though I wish they followed through and sent me links as my JIC system is first/second gen...I bought Gen2/3 links from another member which were adjustable but very large and beefy...installation was correct as I did it myself, with no load, exact thread count on both sides, and lock-tightened...I know this is a known problem but thought maybe someone had solved it...I was ready to upgrade the say anyway.
I'll contact TPC later to see what they say...
thanks!

I just emailed JIC to see what they will do this time for me. I will also call around to shops (including TPC - Thanks George)

I run the JIC as well. but wondering if we are all comparing the same things.
Is there something you can do on the track to "cause" them to break? or is it random?
I have broken everything else at the track so I guess this is next?
I do think that the car needs to be properly set up at a pro shop including alignment and four corner balancing. if one broke that was professionally installed and car properly set up I would like to hear about that also.

Tom,
I am no professional but pride myself to be pretty savvy on set-up...I will take it to the shop to see what is going on but it is pretty random as with the previous set up it was the passenger side link that broke and this time it was the driver side...two different links also...one very flimsy the present one very beefy and it still snapped in the same place...right at the bottom of the neck...
I would think that you would break more often the same linkage if you are at the track so much...I drive the car the way it is supposed to be...hard...can't help it!
TPC is a race shop here in MD that George has gone to for many of his mods and is highly recommended in our area. TPC I think builds there own stuff just as a few other shops do around here.

MX racer,
Is it your understanding that these TPC (not TRG, The Racers Group?),
drop links will screw into the attachment points on the JIC/Cross suspension?
I have many heavy duty drop links on hand from friends Cup Cars and stuff
but they are not applicable (do not work) with the JIC set-up.

WOODTSTER,
No I have no idea if they would work with the JIC or not..
I just thought it might be worth Mike asking them about it..
Yeah and it is TPC not TRG.. They won the 24 hours of daytona I think year before last and they are local for Mike and I..
